You don't find it difficult to keep the unconscious diver's head tilted backwards so as to help maintain an airway?

Wasn't this covered (in some detail) in *your* Fundies class?

In any case, you simply use your right arm to both keep the reg in place and to keep the diver's head tilted back ensuring an open airway. It's actually very natural once you get your arm locked in place. After that, your right arm has little to do while you ascend. The left arm works the diver's dump valve. You roll a tiny bit as needed to vent the suits.

It's a good question that's soon addressed with practice.
That's a good question...

You are very brave to post that here! Good on you! I have got to see you diving near some DIR/GUE folk with a Spare Air and Split Fins! If it gets ugly I will be in your corner. :)

I've seen many Halcyon setups and other BP/Ws outfitted with Air2s, comfort harnesses and other padding, extra D-rings, split fins and more. Customization of Halcyon gear is just as common as with any other brand of equipment, I don't see why it would bother anyone, let alone "DIR/GUE" folks?

In the couple of years and few hundred dives I've had a integrated octo/inflater on my Halcyon I've never run into anyone outside of this board that has said it was a dangerous, wrong, or even bad idea. Maybe they were just kind enough to keep it to themselves, I don't know. I will say though, that after trying the long hose (5ft)/bungee back-up, that I have no love for having a back-up hanging from my kneck. That 5ft hose and associated routing on the other hand. . . That's definitely something I'll be integrating into my set-up.

I just recently purchased a Halcyon Infiniti 30 lb wing set-up. I am in the process of getting it fitting to me and I noticed that this wing has a really short corrugated inflator hose....like standard 12". I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a longer replacement hose to fit.....say around 20-22". I called Extreme Exposure where I purchased the wing and they said that Halcyon only makes the standard 12" and the shorter 9" corrugated hoses.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

I jut bought a 6 inch hose to get rid of that ridiculously long 11" hose that came with my Oxycheq wing. Never been happier with the hose. No more flop.

I hope that you find what works best for you. Modifying gear can be a pain, but is a blast when it is complete.

I am not the one who asked the question. Just thought it was a good one though. You might expand on how much more difficult the task would be with an integrated octo and short hose...

I thought you cut the hose?

:) Fun.

I thought you cut the hose?

I did. I wanted to have a manufactured hose to eliminate the potential failure point.:dontknow: Some people thought "you're gonna die." Rather than be a stroke...:mooner:

The glue is holding and I will continue to dive the cut one until the prefabbed one arrives.

I am glad you remembered. Makes me feel special. Some people think "I'm gonna die."

For any post you make online, someone is going to say "you're gonna die."

Johnny commented that the oral inflation hose on my Zeagle Scout was very long, so inspired by you, I cut the hose. After looking at the way the hose is patched onto the BC at the factory, I feel that my cut+patch is far more durable.

Not only did I remember, but I was inspired. :)
