Dang it!

Why won't My NitekX computer connect to my laptop anymore? It used to. I used to be able to download dives, change settings, etc.

The battery died. I changed it without issue. The computer has not been in the water since the battery change.

Now the Diverite Workbench won't recognize the dang thing. The cable is connected. The port works (I could print on a printer connected to that USB port). I click on Nitek Control, connect the computer via the $250 connection cable, scroll through the computer until I get to PC, push the right button, the computer says "Connecting Via USB, AND..... Wait for it.....

NOTHING HAPPENS. Over and over. I try scanning for ports, have imported the stupid driver 10 times and still NOTHING. I use a MacBook Pro. OS X 10.5.8. The real beauty of Macs is you don't have to install stupid drivers!

AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!

It USED to work!

How do I fix it?

PM sent at 12:20 CDT. Have not heard from techies.

I just wanted to say that Richard Hoska from DR has been working on the issue with me. It is not solved yet, but he is engaged and we are working on it.

I got a call from Diverite today saying they updated the firmware and the problem was the Fisher connection, which they replace. It is shipping back today.

All Gratis.

Thank you Dive Rite.

OK, I have not had the computer out since it shipped back. I moved and had to get the house back in order after my ex trashed it.

The only diving I did was to Divemaster a Rescue class and I left the Nitek X at home for that.

I have the EXACT same issue that I ahd when I sent the computer in to Divrite. My laptop recognizes other USB devices, but not this one. At All.

What can I do? It worked until last April and I am really frustrated.

Hey Don,

Sorry to read the problem is not resolved. Are you still working with Richard? He is going to be able to help trouble shoot this. Please let me know who you've tried to contact. Richard is not part of the Scubaboard Forum and you'll need to work directly with him. If I can facilitate, please let me know.

Something odd is going on and we want to get to the bottom of it.

Also, I am in the middle of Tec training now, so sending it in is not going to be a great option.
