Dove on the Rouse Simmons on saturday. Great dive, excellent conditions! As you'll see I had some issues with the camera, not sure why it's giving off the red hue. This was shot with a new GoPro HD Hero cam and a Kodak Zi8. Hopefully you'll find the music a little more bearable  If anyone has any ideas on how I can correct the white balance or get rid of the hue I'm all ears. The white balance on the camera is not adjustable. Next time I'm going to try and keep the can light out of the frame.

Awesome video of the xmas tree ship. One of the better ones I've seen... Was the camera mounted to your head somehow?

FYI: I don't think your camera problem has anything to do with "red". It looks like the blue channel is cutting in and out. I don't know enough about this particular unit to say conclusively, but if it is 3 ccd/cmos design, I'd suspect the blue chip or it's associated circuitry. If it uses a Bayer Filter or is a Foveon chip, I'm clueless, but whatever the design is, it ain't right.

Thanks for the information. It's a GoPro Hero Cam mounted with a headstrap.

It was the last camera REI had in stock and was the display model, maybe it got banged around a bit. I just don't understand why the footage taken above water does not look the same. (The only surface footage from the hero cam was on the boat, the rest was the kodak zi8). Maybe I'll go to another REI and try exchanging it.

Here's a picture of me with the camera on my head before the dive...

Dude, I thought that red light special effect was intentional. Like in Zeppelin's "Song remains the same" and Page is sitting there playing that hurdy-gurdy and he turns around and his eyes are glowing red. Dude, you had me freaking out on that dive!

Just kidding. Sorry, I couldn't help myself :)dork2:). Cool video and wreck. It appears that the seas and vis could not have been better. Hope you get your camera glitch sorted out. Again, thanks for sharing.

Can video cameras record in black and white? Color underwater is always a problem, especially if you are not right up close to the subject. With still pictures, I am much more impressed with black and white then the various shades of green you usually get. Might solve your psychedelic red flashes too.

What was the bottom temperature? I'd bet it was quite cool. You could try duplicating the issue by sticking your camera in the refrigerator for an hour or so. But that wont fix it...

No black and white feature, bottom temp was 37F up until the thermocline around 30' and then it got up to a balmy 53F
