AquaHound,

Looks like you're very close to identifying and locating the divers. Next challenge, to find that turtle, (s)he'll be famous! :D

Now, that will take some math. Being it was about 1/3 through the journey, I'm figuring somewhere around Honduras.

I go to aruba once a year I was there 11/5-11/12-09. On one of my last dives I heard of a rental camera being lost,I remember someone saying on the boat"so finders keepers"we were on the antilla wreck with "unique sports of aruba".It may be a rental camera? They had at least 10-15 on the counter at the end of the day. I don't take pic. so:idk:

What about the serial number of the camera? Nikon might have a record of the owner.

Replacing the non-working camera on ebay looks cheap enough. I think AH should keep the old one as a souvenir. Returning the much more valuable, working housing and the card will be noble enough.
Thanks for the SN. I will see what I can find on monday. At least find the dealer it was sold to!
Finding the dealer sounds very promising.

The camera is a Nikon Coolpix L18. Sorry, there is no s/n on the housing.

All I make out of the back stenciling is a L..TE, with the octopus logo. That's how we new Ikelite. Underneath, there is ...A....ct. There is something else on a third line, but that is almost completely scratched out.

OMG, the turtle ate the Serial Number! ! !

It's a conspiracy, I tell you! The turtle did in the owner!!!!

Now that ought to get the conspiracy theorists involved.

Ikelite sold most of the Coolpix L18 housings with cameras as a package. I hope I will be able to track where the camera was sold to via the serial # I have acquired from Aquahound. I work at Ikelite and ScubaBasics.com.
Let the suspense continue until monday evening when I will hold a press conference on all the news networks!
Karl
