How is the vis there in the warmer months? Due to the depth I'd prefer just taking a couple of aluminums vs hauling out the steels for it.

I've only been there once with some swampers last summer. It was like Travis, green and murky. If I remember right vis was somewhere between 5-10'. I was buddied with a fairly new diver, so our dives weren't that long.

It is a 'walk' as you know since you indicated having dove Stillhouse in the past (and were not talking about diving from the scuba shop peer) -dang ....... I dove in the summer or late spring a few years back and the vis in the water column was similar to any Texas lake with bloom or even CSSP under bloom. I have know issues with this type vis myself.

May clear up a tad at the deepest point on the structure.

The area I have been 'told' about is what appears to be a collapsed floor of concrete that allows an overhead entry spot, probably nothing in the space that the demo created is my guess.

Deepest and best diving ,again I am told is on the end of the dam.....need a boat/pontoon/scooter......or a STRONG surface swimmer with a BIG flag.

If anyone is intrested in diving Stillhouse and needs a buddy please let me know. Myself and a few friends dive there almost every weekend and know the lake pretty well.

Have you dove the area of the dam yet, if so what are your thoughts?

It has been a few years since I have dove on that side of the lake because it's hard to get over there without a boat. I dont remember anything special about it though. I usually dive around "The Point." There is a few boats, a platform, a motorcycle, the pump station and a few other small things. Right now vis is about 10 feet and the surface temp was 69 last Saturday.

I'm interested in checking this out

Me too... I'll keep an eye on this thread and PM me if heading that way... I'll try to join in

I would love to make another trip there again soon. I am looking at either end of May or beginning of June. Hollar at us when you plan a trip there around that time.

The time Psiborg and I was there the vis wasn't all that until we hit about 35' to 40'. It opened up fairly well then and I would estimate about 15' or so. I could see pretty much the whole length of the opening.

DUI Diver: are you doing any diving this Saturday? I wouldn't be up for penetrating the pumphouse, but i'll jump at the chance to dive Stillhouse Lake.

Myself a few buddies will be at Stillhouse at 8 am on Saturday. Let me know if you would like to go.
