I wouldn't wear a black stab jacket into an airport for any reason.

Well of course. If you are going to be doing something dangerous like flying then you should wear your BP/W. a jacket BC will just get a bunch of amature travelers killed.

I thought about the idea for a second and from a non divers, average travelers perspective I could see someone freaking out. I would recommend adding a few Ipods and other wires with maybe some red candy bars stuffed into the pockets to make it more interesting. Might help to look a little nervous, keep checking your watch and looking around suspiciously.

Short story. I was flying out of Oakland California and a guy in line was probably on meth or some drug and looking real nervous. I kept my eye on him and was prepared to mention it to TSA. We didn't even make it through the security line before TSA had pulled him out of line and taken him off to be cavity searched or so I had hoped.

Back plate and wing flies real nice tucked into my checked luggage. I carry my regs, can light, wrist computer, and camera onboard, everything else gets checked.

This is a brilliant idea because my BC takes up the most room in my luggage ! I'll give it a try this summer :)

Just got finished strapping my frameless backpack (my normal carry on) onto the bcd where the tank would normally be. It works great! It does however have a very tactical look to it...

When traveling back and forth to Oahu.. have had layovers in Phil, Newark, Denver, LAX, Seattle..including multiple trips overseas..Us virgin, Caymans, Cozumel..etc..have not had an issue with TSA..
Was nice when I could pack my stuff in a "Rough-neck" Bin..slap scuba stickers all over it..have it hand carried..(too big to throw) and know nothing would be missing..
Have always hand carried my Regulator.. it is my lifeline..
Once (30) years ago..security had an issue with my Regulator...they kept it in front w/ the pilot..made no sense.. to me.

Funny, how folks pretend you are invisible..when you look different.
and Yes, I have worn my BPW set as well..
Just once, a little old lady asked me if I was wearing a "jump" jacket..said yes and waited for lighting to strike me on the spot.

So in answer to the question..yes I wear my "jump jacket" thru airports and stow it in the over head, just like those folks that wear coats..

Thanks for all the replies...I like the suggestion of adding "human friendly stuff" to it, so it doesn't look so military. If I hang come dolls from it, that would help, but then people might think some really strange stuff about me.....

Then they'll wonder what you stuffed inside the dolls---I would just pack in a durable, hard, non-SCUBAized(generic) suitcase...

Yes, I've read plenty of posts of people doing that if they have quite a lot of gear (I haven't done it myself.)
