I take my 7ft off and put on a 5ft, a lot of my buddies question this,
I take a sling to use on deep dives,
I use a bathing suit cuze I hate my nutz getting squished by my shorts under my 3mil. If it's warm enough I dont need the suit, but I take it and a core warmer just in case. A 3mil can be rented and just swim in someone elses pee suit.
I bring my save a dive kit, includes extra batteries.
I love night dives so I take my primary and second,
Service regs before going,
reel and smb, compass,
converter,
pretty much everything except drysuit and gloves, hood,
I take my scissors and harness knife, I have never had anyone say anything about my harness knife,
drybag for boatride,
windbreaker if site my be chilly on night dives.
2 shorts that I usually keep,t shirts I usually give away and return with new ones, dark sunglasses so i dont get caught lookin at the a$$3$:cool2:
Have fun dude! kev

If it is a warm, sunny place, don't forget the sunscreen, long-sleeved shirt, sunglasses, and hat. Of course, you can buy them there, but just make sure you use them, or you will be sorry!

100% O2? No thanks.

Is there a Nitrox version?

No need for Nitrox. If you take the PADI Jedi Diver Specialty you will get trained to teach the midichlorians in your body to deal with oxygen molecules in your nervous system so that you avoid toxing. The downside is that your force attacks are diminished a bit because you dedicate part of your midichlorians to deal with O2.

In all seriousness...

I assume you're going to a shore resort.

Bring at least 3 pairs of swim suits. Really. 4 is better. Otherwise, you'll get itchy-butt from the damp suit. Between dives, just change out to a dry suit and leave the damp one clothespinned to the railing of your room.

Heh, clothespins, bring about a dozen. They're cheap - they cost about $2 for a bag of 100 at Wally World. A zillion uses.

There is no way on earth I will get on board a recreational dive boat, that has no clue what a SMB really means (let alone a yellow one), without a Dive-Alert on my wing. This is the one that makes you deaf on the surface, not the annoying one that makes noise underwater. With this, I actually will have a chance of getting the crew's attention before they motor away without me.

A mesh bag. You have to have something to carry your mask, fins, etc to and from the boat, otherwise you look like a homeless person carrying all your stuff in your arms.

Like Rick said, I bring all my own gear except tanks and lead. I won't trust the resort rental gear.

All the best, James

Depending on how many dives you plan on doing in a day you may want to bring a warm jacket with you to wear between dives too even for warm climates the breeze can get you quite chilled if you diving a lot, where are you going?
Second James on the mesh bag, very handy to have.

Perhaps this multi-function muck stick would be more useful than a tank banger ;).

:dork2:

But then I wont be able to pull a Jedi mind trick the sharks into only going after my buddy.

Of those who don't separately ship their dive gear to and from their destination, many decide to take all of their gear in a carry on bag rather than risk checking it in. Just make sure you don't back your knives and spears and you should be fine.
