Ummm, thats all been happening for millions of years. We just didn't have the ski resorts yet.

Yes, but the frequency of the oscillation from one extreme to the other is being affected by humans. :coffee:

:rofl3: I cant believe you said that.:rofl3:

Halemano Not that it makes a difference what I understand of your ignorance or not. I am a captain and know the difference of port or starboard. I stand by what I know! Even if you don't like the explanation of what is expected in the real world of taking control of a vessel at sea. It has little to do with my understanding of what you are trying to explain. . If the Maru turned left or right The Fact is AG pulled in front of the ship! Like it or not.
See you topside! John

Has this video from the Bob Barker been posted?

Both views for comparison.

Watching those 2 videos a few times, it's clearly evident that the whaler turned to starboard and hit the black boat.

It's clearly evident the whaler is at fault.

What isn't clearly evident is why anybody cares?

Where's the helicopter footage:D

So basically your admitting that both Frank and I were using port correctly and even though your reading comprehension is less than my 8 year old twin cousins and you then went on to try and teach "port is left" for quite a few posts to people who do know port is left and did type what they meant to type; your a captain and how could you be wrong. :rofl3:

Well the Captain of the 'Maru is a Captain too, and I am sure he will be found as not wrong as you. :mooner:

I think the whaler served in. but if you look at another video of it, it shows the whaler turns port before they hit it. it appears they were just "bluffing" or trying to hit it with a wave or get closer with the fire hoses.

then... in the other video, at the last minute, the dumb-asses in the Ady Gil accelerate right into the bow of the whaler.

both groups have responsibilty here.... but taking whether "whaling is right or not" out of it, if the Ady Gil hasn't been screwing with the "bigger boat" then they wouldn't have gotten hit.

this was self induced stupidity on their part.

I will reiterate.... After watching video from different vantage points....

The Ady Gil was almost stationary leading up to the collision. Want proof? Look at the wake of the Ady Gil on the Japanese video, there isn't any wake. The Ady Gil was almost dead in the water as the Japanese whaling ship apprached at a high rate of speed.

The Japanese whaling ship, traveling very fast, make a radial turn to starboard to ram the Ady Gil. The Agy Gil responded by accelerating just before impact, perhaps to avoid being rammed. Again, watch the Japanese video to see the Ady Gil accelerate and throw up a wake just before impact.

As the Ady Gil accelerated, the Japanese whaling ship made a last-second correction to port to ensure that it rammed the Ady Gil squarely.
