"We were engaging with the whaling ships pretty much the whole day, especially the Nisshin Maru, the big factory ship.
"We hadn't been quite successful because there was whaling going on throughout the whole day and at a certain point we had to discontinue because we were running low on fuel.
"We decided to go back to Hobart to refuel, but before that we decided to wave to the Bob Barker, our sister ship, to say goodbye to the crew on there because we hadn't seen each other for a long time.
"As the Bob Barker was moving along, two of the harpoon ships moved along as well and there was the Shonan Maru passing us as well.
"All of a sudden that ship decides to steer straight to us at full speed.
