Hi Guys!

I'm shooting with a Sony HDR-SR11 camera in a BlueFin Pro housing with a Fathom 90 WA Lens Port. To avoid focus hunting, for most shots, I usually set my camera's focus control to manual an then set it to infinity. So far my images have resulted sharp.

Technically the fathom WA lens is a dome port, right? So, should I be focusing on the "virtual image" inches away from my lens rather than setting my camera lens to infinity? Are my images sharp using this approach because of deep DOF?

Thanks for your insights.

Salvador, if you're using a W/A adapter you've probably got very little room for focus. At least that's how it is on my setup. I've got a range of 1-100 and the combo of the lens and the dome port compresses that range dramatically. If I'm not set exactly at 21 then I'm out of focus. There's usually focus charts you can find but I doubt there's one for u/w that takes into consideration the adapter lens and port so I say do whatever looks right, review your footage and make adjustments on the next dive.
