Suggestions for August Meet and Greet dates and a Location

If the date was important to Jenny, when everyone was being polled about Meeet & Greet dates, she should have spoken up then. Barring that, she should have contacted FossilBabe about possible conflicts or date changes before planning her own event. More events the better, but lets all work together!

I'll only be available for Saturday for the Labor Day weekend. As I thought the 9/11 meet & greet was a done deal I requested that weekend off. A snowball has a better chance you know where than I do of getting back to back weekends off.
NOOOO!!!! Don't cancel just because I posted a dive. EVERYBODY is welcome. What the heck is this talk of back to back weekend diving? So what? Isn't this a diving forum? Why can't we accommodate everybody! I can't make it to your meet and greet and simply suggested another weekend. PLEASE have your meet and greet, I hope you have a wonderful time. and you should be able to celebrate your birthday... and everybody else that has requested a weekend off to dive and hang out deserves that opportunity.
I am so sorry to hear somebody(s?) think this is a clique thing. That is NOT the spirit of the Florida Conchs and if it is, that is very immature of the group and I am embarrassed to be a part of that label.
I am so upset by the group think that there can only be one dive and only one meet and greet. There is no mal intent on my part to post another dive, maybe badly timed and poor worded, and for that I am so sorry. Please forgive me. Let's work this out and ALL have a good time diving.

Hmm. Ya know, I didn't respond here because I saw the concept of a Meet-N-Greet as an evening get-together at a restaurant/bar, vs. being a full blown dive day. Since I live on the other coast, I don't really give a second glance to meet-n-greet plans.
If the chosen weekend for Fossilbabe's get together was to be Sept. 11, AND it was to be a dive, I might have joined in. (And will certainly give it good thought if it is "back on".)
Jenny's thread, on the other hand, I read as "Let's dive sometime on Labor Day weekend". Given that thread title, I immediately stopped and looked. However, I can't attend that weekend due to pre-existing plans.
I can't imagine that on any given weekend, anyone on the board can't plan a dive whereever it suits them, and post it. Certainly, there are usually several Conch events overlapping every weekend here on the east coast, and it's no big deal. Sometimes I feel like a boat dive, sometimes I feel like a beach dive; sometimes I just wanna sleep in, ya know?
That's just the nature of a board this big--some people can make multiple weekends, some can't come to one but can come to another, etc. Jenny was simply posting a "hey, anyone wanna dive x weekend, I'm gonna be on that coast."
So, Fossilbabe, if your plan stays in place for Sept. 11 and includes diving, I would happily attend.
Finally, I beg anyone joining either of these events not to see it as a competition, a cat-fight, or any other terminology. I'd see it as, WOW! I have so many opportunities to choose from to dive with old dive buddies, potential new dive buddies--and good friends, either way! How great is it that ScubaBoard has given us such an ability to have access to planning dives with so many people we wouldn't have met otherwise!
Now, when's the next dive?

Lol I agree, but I cant dive on labor day weekend as I am working. While anything fun on 9/11 weekend I was game for. I am always up for diving when I can. Once I get my tanks back from their inspection. With school starting soon, my week day dive buddy is no more and weekends are impossible with her band schedule so I am either looking for my NOPO buddy or anyone else lol.

From what I read Jenny was simply planning a dive and lunch, not a meet-n-greet :depressed:
From everything I've seen on SB (and attended) A meet and greet is usually an evening get together for food and meeting locals.... Where as a dive and lunch is just that... a dive and lunch.
All I saw that was different was Jenny letting everyone know that she can't make the meet and greet if it is held at another time. She never requested you actually change the date. She only said that it would be cool for her if it was the Labor Day weekend.
Since you have it scheduled, there is no reason to cancel anything. There are often different mini-events every weekend of the month.

Oops! I didn't see everyone's response to the cancellation... Same basic idea... different words.
Let's meet at Sharky's on the 11th. Sure, some folks won't me able to make it, but there are enough who will. I'll be planning to dive on Saturday and Sunday. I'll be on the other coast Labor Day weekend.
