Go to this page and review 2 topics.

First is how to don your wetsuit, there are right and wrong ways and this may be part of the problem.

The second is checking the fit if it is too tight you will never be able to effectively don the suit and it should be swapped out for another suit.

The rest of the page may also be a god read including the custom topic.

Ditto on the smaller sizing issue. My merino 3 mil is a med large but I needed a large short to get into the 5 mm one. A 7 I don't even want to think about- That's why I have semi custom drysuit.

I agree with Jim. I have a 3/2MM for local diving in Texas and the warm stuff around here such as Mexico/Caribbean. I had a 5MM in OW class that was pure hell to get on and off.

The thought of a 7MM suit gives me nightmares and makes me never want to do cold water diving....EVER.

Spend $50 on a dive skin (also known as a rash guard) and I bet 80% of your problems with donning the suit go away. I have dove one for years and about 3 weeks ago I remembered just how sweet it is.

I was going to go in and clean my pool so I figured I would not need all of the suit. I left the skin and the John (I have a 2 pc 7mm John/Jane) off and attempted to just put on the "coat" portion. Well, I struggled for 5 minutes and then tried the John....another 5 minutes and I put the skin on and was in the water in 2-3 minutes.

Seriously, they are a great thing and resonably inexpensive.

I have a 7mm Pinnacle Elastaprene suit and it's super easy to don and doff....I have to agree that yours is too small and you need a bigger size. I'd send it back and request one size up.

The other possibility is that Pinnacle's cut simply isn't right for your body. Wetsuits are like clothing...not all brands fit the same way and have very different cuts.

This would explain why I had to go with a manufacturer that had the "fatass" shape and size :D. You are so correct though. The first one or even the one you like might not have a proper "cut" for you (OP). Thinkof a suit.....off the shelf it may still need some altering. Each manufacturer has been altered just a little bit differently with wetsuits.

My $.02 worth....have you tried a rash guard? I have one and it makes getting in and out a breeze. As far as make, my "cheapo" $79.00 full 3mm suit is still looking good while the other half's custom Henderson looks like it has seen better days.

I solved this issues years ago....here is what ya do.

Get A DRY SUIT....

A mentioned, a skin works best. Size is the issue go one size larger or loose some extra pounds..not being rude here...On the occasions I do dive wet...I have a Henderson Cold core 7mm...slips on nice when it is DRY and I am DRY...if I am slightly humid or wet or the suit is not dry. It is difficult to put on a struggle but it gets on ....

Don't forget that wetsuits, even the "super stretch" ones, still require break-in period, and that loose fitting ones will do you no favor underwater.

When I got my custom cut suit, I had to wonder whether or not the tailor screwed up because it was even tighter than the off-the-shelf unit. But after ten dives or so, it fits me like a glove.

Also, wear rash guard or maybe an UnderArmour compression long sleeve T-shirt and compression shorts. It helps a lot because you can slide right in and out.

Apparently you already bought your suit but for future references, JMJ and New Horizon have the Tplush material which has some sort of fuzzy liner that also help with getting in and out plus keeping you a bit warmer than a typical 7mm suit.

There are two things that worked for me putting on a wetsuit:
- getting it wet before I put it on. Some (all?) wetsuits expand a little when wet
- put a plastic bag over my hand or foot and then slide into the wetsuit. Works like a charm. Any plastic bag works.

plastic bags are ok, but for the kids, we use 1/2 cheap hair conditioner, 1/2 water, they slide right in & out,
