Funny you should mention that! Unless I was diving deeper than 300 feet at the very least I would not give ICD a second thought either. Maybe I just like living dangerously :D

Or recklessly... :D

Lets be fair here, I’m guessing you're saying such things 'cause you did the analysis once and know that for the kind of dives you normally do the risk for ICD and HPNS is minimal, didn't you?? So, you knew they exist… And the OP question was what the pros and cons, right? IMHO ICD and HPNS are cons… very unlikely to be seen for most of us in this board, but still cons.

In all fairness the OP question stated NDL mix use... which is obviously a con in my opinion given the cost and nature of He....

Thats a fair statement. My deepest dives are around 200 feet and as you say,for those dives ICD and HPNS are non issues.

Its kind of like OTU limits for recreational nitrox. Something to be aware of in an academic way but nothing that needs to be considered in actual dive planning.

As long you stay within the limits where these effects are unlikely to be observed, I couldn’t agree more.

I consider ICD, as I have made a number of dives deeper than 300 ft on a variety of gasses. ICD will be of greater concern as evolving CCR technology (as well as OC) will allow divers to spend greater time at greater depths.

Why would CCR cause greater concern for ICD? If anything, CCR does much more to mitigate ICD risks than OC ever could.
