You suck, Kevin! However, I'm in the same boat. :)

Would love to but (I have to brag a bit) I'm going to [-]North Carolina[/-] South Padre Island to dive the wrecks and oil rigs out there!! I'm psyched!

Kevin and James... you both suck :mooner:

:D

I have family coming into town that weekend (and one of the reasons I am not in NC with Kevin :crying2: )
If I can get away, and my drysuit gets back with it's new seals in time, I was going to try and sneak in a couple dives that weekend. If I can make it i'll be sure to track you down and say hi Justin.

I like to stay at the Adobe BW - not the best motel but my favorite.
Easy to load gear and they have a "diver" rate of about 56 bucks...

You can get tanks from stella, but she may not be there when you need to get them.

I usually head down Friday, do a night dive, then do a couple dives saturday morning, then perhaps a perch dive on sat, then a night dive, then 1-2 dives on Sunday morning.

I will probably bring 2-4 tanks with me.

That dive schedule sounds great ! I'd be happy to buddy up with you or someone else. I'm not too terribly experienced but I have been diving as much as I can lately.

Dan

I'm hoping to make this too. I'm thinking about camping though, if anyone is interested. I'll be driving from Colo Spgs, and have room for 1 or 4, depending on which vehicle I take.

Well I had to pass on a dive trip in SoCal over the 4th so I can visit my inlaws in Texas. However, since we will be passing through Santa Rosa on I-40 I figure maybe I could still get wet after all.

I am looking for info on what I will need to dive the blue hole. I will most likely be coming through on Monday, July 6th. Can I get a pass that same day? Are tank rentals or at least airfills available locally that I can purchase the day I get there? From what I have gleaned from the threads I have read so far there appears to be a dive store or vendor there but I cannot locate a website for info or even a phone number. I plan on bringing all my equipment but just as soon leave the tanks at home if I don't need them.

Realistically, is the dive site kind of a "been there, done that" for my logbook or is it large and diverse enough to warrant more than one tank?

Is there any sight seeing or other things to do there for my non-diving wife and daughter to do while my son and I dive?

Any insight, tips or other valuable info will be appreciated.

Thanks,

mg

According to my logbook, I have done 22 dives at the blue hole. I still like to dive it when I can't get to a "real" dive site. Nearby Perch lake is also a nice dive if conditions are good.

It is not likely that you will be able to get a tank on a Monday...I would bring them with you.

The permit fee is easiest to just pay to a collector...who will probably not be there on a Monday.

Don't forget to altitude adjust!

you know you owe us a full trip report when you get back!!!!:D Ron and I have been talking about doing this for years! (plus I am originally from NC and haven't been back home for 20+ yrs) :D

We will probably be at BH that weekend too, Ron is teaching OW. My knee is better so I will be diving again.

Crap! You mean I have to take notes??? :shocked2:

sight seeing in Santa Rosa, NM???? :rofl3::rofl3::rofl3:
you are kidding, right?
sorry, nothing more than a few hotels, a McDonalds and a Dairy Queen. There is zero to do other than dive or read a book.:shakehead:
as far as is there anything to see? well, it is deep and dark and clear... I have over 100 dives there. Let's just say it is better than not diving.
