yup, the truth is that a significant portion of the industry is in fear of speaking out against DEMA because they fear what will happen to them.....

By the way I KNOW and so do you Pete that indeed there is efforts at retaliation against those that dare to speak out.

When things get like that it by itself is a clear signal that change is due, in fact it is past due.

You may or may not be right, but I'd ask how does DEMA think they can damage the relationship I have with

#1 My Customers?

#2 My dealers?

#3 My vendors?

The very idea that DEMA might think they can in any meaningful way only serves to cement my opinion that DEMA doesn't understand the current dynamic.

What's DEMA going to do, refuse me a booth at a show that may not happen?

Give me a booth in the back?

Refuse to take my membership $$?

Whew! What a thread. It took me a couple of days to get all the way through it.

I'm not in the scuba business; I'm just a diver. I feel like I just went down to the butcher shop to see how the sausage is made.

Thanks for the education.

I've been attending DEMA for for over 20 years, and my company has been a memeber for over 10 years. For the most part it has morphed into a dive travel expo rather than equipment. I remember when DEMA meant Dive Equipment Manufacturers' Association.

The only reason why I attend in Vegas only is to maintain my personal contacts in the travel industry and take advantage of DEMA specials.

A little bird just told me that Aqua Lung is back in for the DEMA show this year and will be exhibiting. Please don't ask me the little birds name....I talk to a lot of little birds each day and I forgot his name. :D
