Boy you guys are encouraging! I have no right to complain at age 63 when you and your wife can dive at 75! I definitely had more energy diving in Cancun this week than when I do dry suit diving in the northwest, which is usually the only diving available to me.Too old to dive?
My wife got certified this spring in Maui. We did several dives together after her certification. We dove Mala Wharf and she very much enjoyed the white tip sharks. We dove Embassy and even found some Tiger Conch snails. Great experience.
We are diving Catalina Island on the California Coast for Mothers Day. We have 2 weeks booked in Akumal in November.
We still ride the Harley and have put in many 500 mile days.
Oh yeah, she will celebrate her 75th birthday in June.
Life is great.
At least you had the excuse of narcosis--I was about 3 feet deep. Oh well I guess lessons in humility never hurt.I had to laugh about the caught line. I had the same thing happen to me during my cave work. Except it was a rock at 100' and the instructor and asst. instructor both just stared at me, who was fully narced. F i n a l l y figured it out. Amazing what a few feet up does to mental clarity.
Third, or Fourth, or whatever on nitrox. It is pretty common, in my experience, for the nitrox users to be playing while the plain air folks are tired and napping.
Welcome to the Society of Excellent Elders.
I hadn't dived for 20 years--raising kids, etc. I did a "relearning" pool dive, worrying that I might just be too old now--62. I got in the pool, went down a few feet and started to kick. I didn't go very far, wasn't moving much, and right there decided that I must be too old and weak, maybe I'd just better give up. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself when someone took pity on me and unhooked my tank from the lane rope. Since then, lots of good diving. Chris
Very funny post. How old was Cousteau when he quite diving?
Best to you and yours...
