That's great, Britt! Thanks. Yell if you need some extra hands to get the quarry ready.

I stopped by Divesports in Decatur today to pick up a few things. Phil and Brad mentioned there will be a dive and eating thing at Madison Quarry to kick off the season on Saturday 24 April 2009. .

thanks for posting that.... good to know....

hmmm... same weekend as Springfest I think.

only thing about divining in April is that water hasn't warmed up yet on the bottom. (for us who don't have drysuits).

Yeah....Brad mentioned it to me and I said "sign me up" but then looked at my blackberry. I noted the Springfest conflict and told him I'd be at Vortex that day. I don't think they realized the date conflict but it'll still be a great dive and dine for those that can't make it all the way to Springfest.

As promised, I checked the water temps. Im not sure where the thermocline is since I only put 2 thermometers in, one the 10 feet deep and the other at the bottom.

Late in the afternoon today, the surface was 65 degrees, and the bottom was 55 degrees. Not bad for this early in the year. It will only get warmer over the next few weeks.

The water in the back parking lot is up to 18 inches deep, a little more water and we will have a quarry that is twice the size to dive in and I can start teaching deco classes in Madison. :rofl3:

Britt,

I am *SO* looking forward to diving at the quarry again this year!!!!!! Sell me a season pass NOW!!!! :-D

Britt,
How'd the clean up day go? I sooooo wish we could have been there...instead at home sicker than we've been in a while!

Do you think you will need help next weekend? Or was the bulk of it done? Lisa and Doc Kept me posted....While they were checking on us.
I was very happy to hear that you had a good turnout of folks to help. I wish we could have....trust me when I say I'd rather been digging ditches than what Buzz and I have been doing.

again, I am glad you had a good turnout of folks! Can't wait til it is open again!

Tootles, Sheree'
