the story is long and blame is hard to pin down! ...I think they have done what is possible to improve the problems!
Facts: The story isn't all that long, and the blame was pretty easy to pin down. The stories got very magnified by people who simply had no facts. They are reapeated or not refuted by those who indeed know better. The internet echoes forever.
In the case of food poisoning- altho CCV was blamed for it, there was an island wide problem that affected
all resorts.
CCV alone isolated and resolved that problem which came from a Honduran Government Approved Cheese Factory.
The bad air in question simply was not produced at CCV, although it was unfortunately used there. When a resort's compressors are down, they often have their tanks filled by other resorts. "Borrowed" air is now subjected to the same tests that CCV utilizes on its own production process~ which they had previously incorrectly assumed that all providers utilized.
I follow this site regularly and have not hear of such things in the last year (or ever). Is there any basis for these assertions?
It occurred few years back, when several people on the internet kept up the niggling and innuendo. This food poisoning story was bolstered by one particular dive newsletter which sold a lot of subscriptions while grinding away at a misleading story, printing material
they knew to be wrong... and never a retraction. They once again love the place.
In terms of the air issue, the other details of the story were sealed by court agreement, much to the vexation and chagrin of some of those not intimately involved. I understand the legal system, I accept the conditions it places on my perceived needs. I also know that CCV's air is as good as any compressor can make it.
It's mostly booked-up solid anyway, so public perception seems to have caught up with reality.
