I want to express my appreciation to Sadie and Dave. Without them I could not have dived today. Thank you for sacrificing your first dive. I hope someday I can do the same for someone else. See you next time.

We are new to this. New to ScubaBoard & new to diving. But, we would like to meet you guys on Saturday. We've been looking forward to a shallow shore dive to get our feet wet.

Nicole & Justin

Heya what happened to you guys?

Don't you ever sleep? :)

Occasionally  depends if there is something better to do.

Nailed about 5lbs of stone crab claws today :yeahbaby: Missed out on a monster size flounder and hog,

SalmonBoy - how did you do?

Mini report: Spotted my first ever Smooth Butterfly Ray about 3' in width. So odd with the small tail. It allowed me to get right next to it, very cool (golly I so need another camera - another day I missed out on some good shots :sadangel:). Anywhahoozle there were lots of Sand Divers, Leaopard Toadfish, Gulf Flounder, Red Grouper (juvs), Snapper, and Blennies. Also saw some Ocean Triggers, Molly Millers, Two Green Morays, Slippery Dick, couple different kinds of Butterfly Fish, and Parrot Fish (to name a few .

I had a very cool moment when a shoal of horse-eye jacks surrounded me and kept swimming 'round and 'round me. I also noticed, as I was collecting crab claws, several groupers and assorted other fish were following me around. Pied Piper came to mind. Actually I took the claw off of one big fella and continued on around a rather large rock, when I got back to the spot, of the guy whose claw I took, one of the groupers that had been following me had half his body in the crab's hole :shocked2: Looking for scraps, I guess.

There were no seas to speak of today, no current either, and the tide was way out. I dropped as soon as I donned my mask and fins. It took me two minutes to swim to the rocks on my first tank, and three on the second.

Somehow, even though a load of people came out, I ended up with no buddy  So on my second dive I accosted some poor fella who had no clue about SB, and had him join me. :rofl3: (Actually his friend bailed on the second dive and mentioned he needed a buddy).

Anywhoozle, water temp was 80F, viz 10'. I got in four minutes shy of three hours for BT :bounce: Not too shabby for a day. :cool2: As always lots of good macro - if you look for it. I actually stopped hunting for a bit to take in some of the small stuff. very nice. :)

As for the pizza place, it doesn't open until 4 neither does Sharky's. So some of us ended up at The Beach House - pretty decent food. Several others went on to the Venice event that was going on. Hopefully they all had some good luck out there.

Mote it was a pleasure meeting MissMote. btw, what was the name of that thread?

GEES MissD, how big are they...................? Your cylinders that is, how big are they to get 3hrs BT? I feel bad you had to dive solo the first dive, I thought you would have plenty of peeps want to follow you into the deep so I didnt ask. On the second dive, I didnt want you to have to wait on my SI to go back again. We had just come out of the water and needed to switch over and rest a little. Beach diving aint easy!

My group caught all the crab we could. Even some that were clawless (must have been D's Wed victims :D) I dont know how many pounds but it was enough to split up 3 ways and have a good meal. I had some MONSTER claws but it is NEVER too much.
After our second dive everyone was GONE, no one left to show off too!:rofl3::rofl3::rofl3: (I have BIG tanks too=lots of BT)

I was really impressed with Spanish Rocks this time. The first time I dove it was about a year ago and I was expecting so much more I left disappointed. Not this time. I slowed down, looked at all the tiny beauty and collected dinner! AWESOME DIVE. I was even able to hand-catch a sheepshead! I showed it to my dive bud before letting it go. I wanted to be sure and have a witness to that! I ALMOST hand-caught a nice hogfish too, he was a little faster though. I didnt see anything really good to shoot so I left the gun in the van for the duration. Did anyone spear anything?

Did everyone see the Manta Ray crashing and jumping out of the water? This happened as my group was entering the water. I first thought it was a dolphin, just seeing the tip of one wing, but it was soon air borne and you could tell it was a large ray. That was VERY COOL. You dont see THAT everyday.

We should have brought the ScubaBoard banner and hung it from my van. That would have brought some attention to the board! Maybe next time.:sblogo:

We went down to the Sugar Barge for a third dive. There I found a 4lb weight and three more claws. The visibility was a little better at the SB but not much. We did find the monument and the stern and that is about all that is left of it. Here I almost caught a flounder with my knife. I let him live to grow a little larger but he better watch out NEXT time!

Spent a little time at SeaTrek and spoke about the dive charter there. For $80.00 per person, without equipment, we can get out to some barges in the area on their 6 pack boat. Possible future dive, close to home.

No worries SB97 - I was too busy chatting with everyone when I looked around and saw everyone was diving and I was just stood there  :rofl3:

Did you get the note I left on the van?

AL80's btw

I didn't sacrifice my first dive, I altered my first dive. I'm glad I could help.

That was a great dive! The only problems I had were on land with some parking nazis, but oh well. I'm actually thinking about heading down there next Wednesday morning for a few hours. Anyone interested?

You are part of the "Wednesday" crowd. It must be nice to get out in the middle of the week. I can barely get away on the weekends.
Im sorry we didnt meet on land, but I was just ahead of you and MsScuba on the first dive.

We met! I had the red Silverado that relocated next to you in between dives. I guess I was still to steaming from that to formally intro myself. We'll take care of that next time!
