I recently got my Rescue Diver certification here in Los Angeles, and it was great fun! I wrote an essay about the experience for my blog, and I thought some here might appreciate it. Feel free to check it out on my blog:

Congrats! Huh, so your class did the "call for pizza" in place of "call 911" too huh? Must be a PADI thing, was wondering if that was a phrase my instructor used or not.

Well, PADI's all into subliminal marketing so that must be their way of suggesting that you should go have a nice, hot steamy pizza with pepperoni on it after you finish Rescue...cause you're sure as hell gonna have the appetite for one. :P

It's not just a PADI thing ... my YMCA instructor did the same thing.

I let my students choose what they want to call for ... but explain that we will be doing our exercises in a city park that's not only well attended by other divers, but by a lot of non-diving folks who are fishing off the pier or walking, skating, biking along the beach ... a call for help, even if understood by other divers to be a class exercise, is likely to result in a 911 call from some well-meaning bystander.

The most common thing my students decide to call for is beer ... we've got some mighty good microbrews out our way ... :D

Is PADI selling Pizza now? :D

Does PADI now stand for Pizza And Dive Instruction?:D

Pepperoni is a distinctive specialty?

You need five toppings to be a Master Pizza Eater.

Go Pro and start making pizza. Eat 60 pizza's and you can be a PizzaMaster.

Do an IDC and you become an OWSI (only with sauce instructor).

Become and MSDT and you can add toppings (Master of Sauce and Donning Toppings)

As a certified pizzatarian all I can say is ... I'm getting hungry ... :D

Scubajcf--

Pizzamaster, huh? I'm all over that !!!

I had a nice two student class. We didn't need any invitation to get too hungry on our dives. :)
