You will like the sl961, I had no problems at all not caused by operator error. Backscatter was a problem, but I could have worked with that in mind and minimized it. I'd play with the position of the flash and some, especially the close ones have NO backscatter at all.

I have what would be a BEAUTIFUL picture of an angle fish. But the flash wasn't at the moment on Auto, it was on FULL!

Enjoy that setup, I sure am.

Got an exposure question. I had my RMM set to Ext Flash. most of the time I used the flash. Once in a while I'd turn off the flash when I was shooting say divers from a distance. Just about all my natural light shots are underexposed, quite dark. When the flash was the primary light like close and I either had it on auto, or setting 1 the exposure was fine. But all natural light, or even background in a flash was underexposed.

Does Ext Flash adjust the exposure and cause that/ Do I need to change the setting when I turn off the flash?

Oh and any new RMM user be sure to turn off that bloody date stamp.

I have just the camera so far and there's no question, a strobe will help immeasurably.
Also, while it's true that a strobe won't help with video, I found a way around that.
Being low on $$$$ and wanting a way to brighten up my subjects, used some items purchased at Home Depot to mount a dive light.
Gives off nice enough light to shoot video and can light up things within a reasonable distance to bring out the colors.

It's not the same as a strobe but if you already have a dive light and not enough extra $$$ to buy a strobe, it'll work in a pinch.

I wouldn't mind mounting a light even for night diving. I didn't bother taking my RMM on my night dives, probably should have. I would have had some great shots of divers swarmed by very tiny blue fish. Freaked out some of the divers.

Haha. Those fish are great. Love them. Watch you ears!!!

Do you have any photos of how you set that up? :)

I have seen that video and also have dived with that guy! His name is Anthony Morris, he is the divemaster and instructor at Couples Swept Away in Jamaica. He is a great guy! He took us to the same spot 3 x's the week I dove with them in hopes to see and interact with them again. That is the video that inspired me to buy one. I too have the strobe and wide angle lens. Enjoy!
