Hey guys I just saw this post and good to see Iowa divers on the board. However scubadiving the Rodney pits is a no go, I know Gary Cisco the conservation officer is a diver and has dove the pits to recover some stuff in the pits for his job but, as far as recreational diving it is no longer allowed.
I was directed by officer Cisco to contact the Monona conservation board and they returned my call and said recreational diving is no longer allowed.
I did get permission for myself as I am a Sherriff's rescue diver for Plymouth county and they do allow Rescue/Recovery divers to dive the pits for training purposes but, even we have to give prior notice that we are going in there, hope this sheds some light on this. Crystal Cove in SSC is divable, the weeds are now gone but, viz is about 2ft. as of last Saturday should be increaing soon though..I know of a few other places that are divable but, am checking to see if they will allow diving to the public if anyone needs any help feel free to let me know.
