Hello, I've learned alot from this board in the past and hopefully you can answer my question today. I searched the board and need to ask a specific question.

My question is that I've been looking for another PST HP100 to match my older PST HP100. I like the PST HP100 because it is much smaller than my PST HP120s and they seem like the perfect amount of air. I found 2 PST E7-HP100 Hydro 08 and 2 older PST HP100s that are Nitrox ready Hydro 06 but have been filled with regular air for a while.

The older HP100 have a Thermo valve while the E7s have the smaller valve that can be converted back and forth from din to yoke. The guy wants to sell two tanks and will let me choose the tanks. I'm not Nitrox certified now but was thinking about getting the cert soon.

What tanks should I choose? The older HP100s that are Nitrox only or the newer E7 100s that have a 08 hydro and the newer valve that can be converted back?

Thanks for your help.:D

Short answer, if you decide you don't want the E7-100's, PM me the contact information of the guy selling them. :)

Thanks for the reply John, he is keeping one set. He is a dive instructor and nice enough to let me choose which set I want, it is a tough decision so i thought I would ask the group.

The E7s are 3442psi, the HP100s are 3500, correct? I'd probably go with the E7s as well, as you're less likely to get a short fill (and there's slightly less effect if you do). Also, are these tanks paired? If so, it would be helpful if you decide to double them up later. Lastly, I don't recall if the HP100s use the smaller diameter valve threads. The E7s are standard 3/4", which tends to make vis testing (and finding manifolds) easier.

I don't think the Nitrox status should have any bearing at all on your decision.

The older PSTs (the 3500 psi rated ones) do indeed use a different thread. That alone would make me want to get the e-series tanks, unless the older ones come at a significant discount.

Tanks can be cleaned for O2 pretty easily. But, factor that into the cost.

Ok, seems like i should get the E7 tanks, thanks for the replys. When I get Nitrox certified I can have them cleaned, I think it's like $45 a tank. Not too expensive and I'll feel better knowing they are clean, the older HP100s have been filled with normal air for a while and may haev been submitted to some bad fills?

And he sold both tanks for $450, not too bad of a deal right?

I gave up keeping my tanks O2 clean. The LDS wants more money each year at VIP to reclean them (last time, had only had 3 fills that year, all from the LDS), and I can generally get premix 32% or 36%, so no need for an oxygen clean tank.

Get the E7's.

Sure, I'd pay that for two E7-100s with current hydro in good condition with the convertible Thermo valves.
