Ok, it has been awhile Since I dove the river. Want to start again but access etc has really changed. I've talked to alot of people and have found some who still do. So this will be the Salt River Diving Info, conditions and all things Salt River Diving place.

Who has been recently, how was it and when are you going again? :D

Kudos Ed. Been looking forward to drift diving the Salt. Does a BCD qualify as a tube? Can we take the Salt River Recreation bus back up-river?

Some time ago I posted about diving around "Blue Point." Apparently, there's a reasonably deep hole around that area. The river is pretty shallow for the most part, though. However, if someone knows of a deep enough channel to drift, I'd be up for it.

i work at saguaro dive shop and one of our instructors is going to submit a river diver cert to padi and will teach it as a specialty. it will e called river dive and recover. who would be interested?

I have never dove the Salt River...but sounds like fun!!!

Dove the river today with Ed IV. It was fantastic. Not for those who prefer to dive in a fish bowl or feel that "depth" makes a dive. Vis was good most of the time. Flying along the bottom you could most always see what you were passing over. Speed varied according to river width, bend or straight. Saw over 20 carp on the bottom like ants in one spot. Nothing of worth or value on this trip, but saw alot of "stuff". Part of the fun is the treasure hunt.
Water temp was 70 to 72. Depth 2 to 15 feet. Flow 600 cfs.
Weirdest thing we saw, a religious candle. Tubers praying and burning candles while going down the river????

Hi Ed, Did you enter and exit at the same point? Or did you do a drift dive of sorts?Never dove the river before, and I was curious.

Sounds like fun. I'd like to try it. Next time you go let me know so I can plan to go too. By the time I found out (spoke the Ed IV at Saguaro when I dropped off my tanks for fills) I already had committed to going to Pleasant with a group.

Where on the river did you start your dive?

I'm meeting some folks at Sheep's Crossing. Not sure where it is but we're meeting there at 6:30 Saturday morning. Should be a lot closer than going to the lake. Looking forward to seeing what the river is like.

Steve.

Where did Sheep's Crossing turn out to be located? The only "Sheep's Crossing" I know of is up by Greer. And how was the diving?
