Lol thanks, dude in the pic is my favourite buddy despite the yellow fins.
Weekend of 26th I could make it to Dutch..

Hi Photofiend!

Welcome to Wreck Valley via SB! Next week our club site will be back up and running so make sure you pop over and register. Wreck Valley Divers Scuba Diving Club - bad request

Ignore the elistists here. I spend more time in the quarry than the ocean because it is CHEAPER! :D Also, I want to see what the dive trips costs are going to be like now that the gas is flying upwards...

Good trim and stuff! If you are looking to come up to Dutch sometime, drop me a PM or post on the club website. I'm usually available on short notice.

The 26th sounds like a winner. However, I'm doing my technical nitrox class that weekend. There will be plenty others up, I'm sure. Pretty chilly on Sunday. Surface to 60ft was 41 degrees and we got a nice training dive in.

I'll be down on the peninsula with Duda's dive shop. Just yell for Jack, unless I'm underwater, I'll hear ya! Look forward to meeting ya.

Oh yeah, the server wasn't up when I posted that, so Wreck Valley Divers :: Index - Wreck Valley Divers is the website.

I'm expecting to be there this weekend. Probably set up with LVDC on the student side

Hey and thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I'll be in touch with all those who offered.
So now that the intros are out of the way, what are some of the main things (ie hazards) that one should be mindful of when diving the NJ coast?

Low visibility which at times make it hard to find your way back to the anchor line, many of us just use a reel to find our way back. Many of the wrecks are scattered, making them difficult to navigate. Sea sickness is a common problem. Monofilament from the damn fisherman. I'm sure there are some I am missing. Oh the cold water is no fun either. Tell me why we dive up here again, thats right we are Jersey divers and we don't give a damn what we dive in.

BTW a redundant are supply is a must for Jersey so if you don't dive doubles or have a pony bottle you will need to look into upgrading your gear or renting what you need.

Deer. I nailed one on Four Mile Road on the way to the boat one morning about three years ago. Little bastards ! I thought I was a dead man.

Where to park when diving from the Belmar marina so as not to get a ticket....

Seriously though: Rough weather, cancellations, poor viz (get a wreck reel and learn how to use it), entanglement hazards like monofilament (wear at least two cutting tools), seasickness, etc...

And if you dive out of Barnegat Light the entire 20 minute trip up the island is one big speed trap, so slow down.
