Here is the rule from the TSA Website

Hidden items such as body piercings may result in your being directed to additional screening for a pat-down inspection. If selected for additional screening, you may ask to remove your body piercing in private as an alternative to the pat-down search.

LOL. Don't be a hater Don. I'll burn the videos to DVD for you. :D
Hehe I've seen the French FAs stripping in a live flighdeck. :11:

I've been thinking. Princess is right on. Piercings are not listed on prohibited items; I had to run a search, and we know that most wouldn't run a search for that.

They should have just looked or offered her a pat down.

Correct Mike, they should have offered her a pat down by a female agent.

But we are still waiting for the other side of the story...???

QUOTE:
Dress the Part
In addition, certain clothing and accessories can set off an alarm on the metal detector and slow you down. Avoid wearing clothing, jewelry or other accessories that contain metal when traveling through the security checkpoints:

* Heavy jewelry (including pins, necklaces, bracelets, rings, watches, earrings, body piercings, cuff links, lanyards or bolo ties)

* Hidden items such as body piercings may result in your being directed to additional screening for a pat-down inspection. If selected for additional screening, you may ask to remove your body piercing in private as an alternative to the pat-down search.

Keep Your Experience Simple

You may be additionally screened because of hidden items such as body piercings, which alarmed the metal detector. If you are selected for additional screening, you may ask to remove your body piercing in private as an alternative to a pat-down search.
UNQUOTE:

Can't find anywhere on TSA's site that says there is an option for having someone of the same sex visually observe you body piercing. Can only find mention of 2 options.

#1 - pat down search
#2 - remove piercing in private as an alternative to a pat-down search

and of course the 3rd unstated option of not getting on your flight.

It will be interesting to see what the final result of her lawsuit is.

This is a procedural discression call. Obviously, conducting a pat-down of the privates isn't going to happen, and the TSA agent should have asked the traveler to either exit to the restroom to remove them in private and return through security, or not pass. Taking them to the screened area was BS, but I don't know that we have all the facts of what actually was said or discussed.

Thanks to our politically correct left wing, our TSA agents aren't allowed to make profiling based discression calls based on this passenger's answers to direct questioning and other factors. If they had, the travelor probably could have been allowed to pass through security.

Remember this: A qualified pilot is allowed to carry a gun on board and bypass security; but if they don't carry the weapon, they can not bypass security and go through the same scrutiny as the passengers. Hmmmm? Also, a pilot can not carry a manicure scissors onboard, but they can just push the yoke forward. Hmmmm? Keep in mind that pilots must pass a FBI background check just to have their jobs.

That was for those of you actually trying to make sense of TSA security.

Pat down of the nips? I'd like to see that happen. Why do men think that a woman wants to get her chest touched by a female TSA agent?

People, our security procedures are a joke. You do not want to know the truth, and you are wasting your time debating it here on SB. End of story.

The pilot's career is over whether it was an accident or not. The deterrance is worth something. Pilots used to carry all the time up until the 80's. Bet you didn't know that?

That being said, the best deterrance is profiling, but like I said before, it ain't gonna happen in this country. :shakehead:

Keep em outside security, and you don't need gun toters onboard. Or hell, give everyone a gun when they board with an electronically activated trigger lock that releases with the flip of a switch in the cockpit! :eyebrow:

Someone tries a forced entry, and the toggle gets flipped. Let the pax sort it out! :11:

It will be interesting to see what the final result of her lawsuit is.

Gag-ordered out-of-court settlement of $10k and unlimited coupons for the all-you-can-eat at the local Sizzler.

Pretty much what I thought when I had the soles of my BARE feet wanded in Miami.

Maybe they were checking for a surgically implanted knife or something..........

Miami's TSA are, well, how do I put this without getting sued or pulled from my status....

Never mind.
