BTravelin - I base this on what every other company does in the free world. I don't have any first-hand experience, but if I owned a business and I thought that a customer owed me money for damages, I wouldn't pussy-foot around about it. And none do. That is how profit margins evaporate. From a consumer's point of view, that is how hard-earned money gets wasted.

DandyDon - I don't think I have told you this yet, but that is a great picture, fitting of both your name and your tagline. And while I disagree with #1 and #2, I think that #3 is a fair solution.

He also informed me that 3 of our guests arrived with illnesses they had previous to boarding."

What would you do if they gave you a free trip from the start and the same thing happened. Would you ask for compensation? :troll:

Of course not Don, Frankly I'm suprised you would even ask a question like that. You know very well that "gasoline" is much easier to get. :eyebrow:

Yes, it could come down to whgo are you going to believe. Don who reports the welcome address by the sick purser who acknowledged her illness and imformed the group of guests that the illness has been on the boat for 2 weeks or the Cpt who says 3 guests came aboard sick which woulod also have to be reconciled with Don's reported progression of thge illness thru the guests.

And then you would still have to decide if the boats policy of no refunds (to the reported 3 sick boarding guests) leave them with any responsibility for contributing to the spread of the illness. Admittedly, the boat is somewhat between a rock and a hard place. But the bottom line is if the boat is taking the $$$ then they should be taking reasonable actions to protect their guests. The captains claim of his recognising 3 of the guests coming aboard sick is just another example of the boat taking the money and doing nothing to protect the other guests. This can't be an uncommon problem in this business.

Here's the kerosene Don.

If you go on a liveaboard to the Galapagos Islands and do not see any "Whale Sharks" on your trip, do you ask for some or all of your money back?

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

Just wanted to post a quick Thank You for remaining respectful of each other while being able to have a lively debate!

I voted yes, at least half. They should have quaranteened the boat after the first week, called you, and asked if you still wanted to do the cruise. Then given you a full refund if you chose not to. Not after you have already arrived and on deck. A week and clorox rubdown should get them back running as mentioned in their protocal. Not amonia as in the windex they used.
