Thanks for clearing that up as I was also interested if they had changed the rules.

As for dive spots there are many more to choose from. Although viz is usually not great, the conditions have been good so I have high hopes for this weekend. Are you coming for a shore dive or are you bringing your boat? There's not much chartering around there. I have found there is a huge difference in viz by driving down at least to Ft Fierce, which is ±30 mins south. Pepper park is a nice shore dive. Check out this pdf file for sites.

Aeropl - The impression I got was this was not actually a 'rule change' as much as it is a notification and enforcement change due to other disruptive activities. Because of that, 'all' of the rules had to be applied.

I will be sticking to beach dives, and coming from the West coast of Florida, I'll be happy with viz at 5-10'. Although the higher surf will be a new challenge.

Pepper Park was on my 'short list' of options, so I'll move it up the list.

********* Anyone suggest a few LDSs in this area for some tank fills? **********

Here are the only shops around that I know of. I've never been to Tropical Connections but I plan to. There also used to be dive shop in Wabasso but I don't know if it still exists.

Tropical Connections Dive

The forecast calls for west winds Friday so Saturday morning should be nice.

What a stupid rule. Like scuba divers are dangerous to anybody! I say to hell with them, just go in the water anyways. Let the life guards complain. Let them call the sheriff. The sheriff ain't gonna wait around for an hour and a half until you get back.

Sorry, you all may not agree with me, but some rules are so ridiculous I just can't respect them.

I'm gonna defy the rules

Joe,

We're looking forward to a detailed trip report.

Hello,

Does anyone know if it is worth shore diving on Wabasso, FL?

I've hit reefs that were a mile or more offshore, so something in that range is no problem.

Thanks.
