I think that many members would be happier (although maybe not completely satisfied) with more consistent moderation, and less of it, even if there was not an opt-in forum or a loosening of the language/content in the existing forums.

Well said.

I recall when a SB moderator censored my post reporting that a sunken NAZI submarine was found off the coast of the UK.

I received a private message instructing me that the use of "NAZI" was not acceptable on SB, because it would be equivalent to saying "Republican" or "Democrat". The moderator substituted "German" for NAZI.

I'm still wondering who the opposing party was in NAZI Germany in 1943.....

More work for the moderators, more marginal calls and more resentment from those who get moderated. I think we shoudl look for solutions that reduce the level of moderation required, not increase it (or shift it elsewhere)

Excuse me?

How is asking for less creating more?

Wouldn’t the effort required to remind of TOS, reprimand, edit, delete, close, explain why, and associated discussion amongst themselves be reduced via the single action of moving an inappropriate discussion to where it belongs and needs none?

Respecting someone else may see things from another viewpoint I make an effort to put myself in their shoes but have been unable to ‘get’ this seepage contaminating the board paranoia at all. It seems more plausible given a place to roughhouse; the unruly would be less likely to disturb the ruled.

OK guys...... I reckon that everyone has had a chance at their say in this thread. I also think that according to Pete's posts, this is being read and digested as we type.

Let's give him the chance to come up with a response.

As El O has already pointed out, the only person in this forum posting as Staff is Pete. The rest is just the same as everyone else - personal opinion.

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do....whatever the cost...

A bit presumptuous don't you think? I would hope the SB staff would let us know when enough was enough.

Exactly. Isn't that why we are posting here?

Mike.....If there is more to add then have at it..

I just think that so much has been said that waiting for a response might be the best course of action...

More can always be added if the response doesn't answer the question.

No....I don't think "presumptuous" - it's just hard to hear an answer sometimes when everyone is shouting. We've put a lot on the table and maybe it's fair to let someone respond. Responses take time. Delays can mean no-one is listening, but can just as well indicate the response is still being considered.

My call is simply for a little space.
