Censorship and SB..how far are we going to take this???

Where did you get that idea. One of the ideas proposed earlier was posting copyrighted pics of professional bikini models. Hardly the same thing...

I saw that part of the thread too, but I got the overall impression that bikini clad anything was not currently considered acceptable on SB by many.

Unfortunately seems that there are some here that would object, and when they report posts it only seems to take one person to get posts deleted. Maybe if they decide to be a bit more tolerant in the Surface Interval or another opt in forum we can get past this.

No. Absolutely not. They are objected to when there is no "rhyme or reason". In other words, when they are posted for simply gawking purposes.

My take on the whole "anonymous poster issue";
If you just gotta post something you know could be considered contorversial - Man (or woman) up an show that you stand for your opinion or let it go.

OH I can see the original need for anony posting. I have been attacked on SB by some hard hitters here, better divers and more cunning wordsmiths than I, in team hits. Sometimes it is hard to stay on here when the attackers come at you just inside the TOS.

However, the reason for the Anony post has been abused, should never have been used for discussion or worse - insults, needs to stop. Feedback can go directly to management by PM. Anything more than that, they can take the heat or shut up, IMO.

There might be places where I could post where the controversy would be handled with civility, but I don't think this is one of those places. I think the discussions and debates are good, but when they turn negative, it harshes my mellow.

Ok no seriously.. when you hit reply... there is an option in the top right corner, kind of above where you type, that gives you the option to become anonymous.

Used for the stated intent of providing feedback to the staff I think it would have been OK too, But I'm afraid it's simply become an easy way to have a sock puppet.

BTW- I've found that if the folks coming after me get too obnoxious demanding to see their scuba police badge can sometimes help.

I think the anon poster was created with good intentions in mind but isnt going to work.
I also support Jep in his bid to loosen the moderation here.
I dont particularly care if bikini models are posted here or not but I would like to be able to discuss politics and other non-diving topics here.

My personal opinion, coming from a non-us resident, is that often politics are allowed on here, but only if they run with the current US Government policy. It's just little quips and remarks here and there but when one replies to these, the post is wiped and told it is outside the TOS.

Just my point of view...take for what its worth.
