Has anyone who is running Vista had any problems downloading footage from the HC7? I'm thinking about upgrading since I have the disk but I heard that Vista was shipped without a lot (or all) of the Sony drivers. I have the driver on the CD that came with the camcorder, but I'm wondering now if there are any other issues--given that this is Microsloth afterall.

From what I've heard from IT professionals and others, I have no plans to "upgrade" to Vista. I've had no problems using Win XP (at least not any related to the OS).

I know this is an old thread, but I recently ran into the same problem. Nobody is really sure (or admitting they know) why, but Vista has big problems with firewire and Sony camcorders. I tried everything, then just built a box with XP that I use to capture video. I have a Sony TRV33, and use Adobe Premiere pro.

Yeah, most of the tech-dweebs pushing Vista on us shopping for new computers give me the "it should work...:eyebrow:" line when asking about compatability problems everybody else seems to be having with it...:shakehead: Some guys say get last year's model with XP and wait for the brave to finish beta testing it...:lotsalove:
Alternatively, is there a dual boot feature you could use? I believe Vaio laptops have that capability..or is it built into Vista?

I'm wondering if the Vista SP1 that microsoft is getting ready to release will fix this issue.

I continue to hear of problems with Vista so I'm going to remain happy with XP. I remember being sent a pre-release version of Windows 1.0 years ago. I loaded and tried it... then kept using DOS until Windows 3.0 came out. I think I'll wait for Vista 3.0, too.

Well, I have had no probelms with Vista and my Sony VX1000. My problems have been the DVD burner. It was working and then it was magically upgraded to not work. ;)

Ahhhh...I love computers.
