Great book to read on the way out there is the;
"Ghost Fleet, The Sunken Ships of Bikini Atoll" by James P. Delgado. As for diving in the islands I think Mario said it all, when he states how jealous we all are, enjoy the diving, it is a lot warmer and clearer than SD...

Hey all,

Compared to most my deep diving is not too deep, 124' in Blue Spring. It was done on air, and most of the time was exploring the cavern shapes... ultra cool! The equipment was a Steel 120cf with a 19cf pony. We were doing a multilevel dive for my AOW, and we spent maybe five minutes at depth. I have only been diving a year, but have taken to it with a vengeance (already have Divemaster).

Here is my question/concern. I have been "deep" (below 60' according to Padi) maybe twenty times. Usually, if I break 60, then I will break 80'. The problem lies in that every time I break 80', I come up with a humongous nose bleed on surfacing. My ascent rate is NEVER above 60fpm (usually 40fpm or so), and I always do a safety stop! However, I have one snoot full of blood, and then it stops. It has happened only once on a repetitive dive, usually I only bleed like that once a day. But it does concern me. Any ideas???

Congratulations on your Divemaster certification. I think you'll make a fine Instructor someday if you can resolve that bloody nose issue. Good luck!:D
 
What's all this silliness? Is it a rainy Saturday everywhere?

Pete, I occasionally have the nosebleed problem, too. It has happened on shallow ( < 30 ft) and deep (200 ft) dives. I've never worried too much about it. I hope someone answers your question, but perhaps a mod should move it to a medical forum (snicker, snicker).

Yep, it's cold and wet here on Catalina... and I should be editing shark video and writing my narration, but...

windy and cold here , But I have to practice my coast shore entries while there here .

This was a Navy training dive where we went to the max. PPO2 limit allowed (297'). Don't anybody try a stunt like this ever. We had the training and all the safety issues covered including a chamber on site.

Just straight down like a rocket and back up at 60' per minute with a couple of short shallow stops.
