Well that didn't take long. Looking at the inlet cams. Look at all that churned up, brown water!! Yuck!

Also noticed someone was having fun with the Jupiter Inlet cam. LOL

It's been bad nearshore in Jupiter for a couple weeks. I've been trying to get out to some of the nearshore rock piles and artificial reefs to freedive and the viz just hasn't been cooperating. The swell is only going to make it worse. Oh well

Yep, with 2 storms attached together it's like a little kid splashing in the bath tub with both fists.
And the NOAA forecasters said none of their marine wave models are accurate for this unique event and warning to just stay away from the water.

I think the wind direction will be off the land and it will be just "rollie" by the weekend if you can get out the inlets. We also are not getting alot of speedy currents due to moon phases so we can't push out the dirty water. Several dive friends are heading to Key Largo now because room rates dropped to rock bottom as out of state vacationers panicked & cancelled.

Just talked to some friends who took their boat to the inlet to have a look at the waves (but not further).
They said the Jupiter inlet is about 1/3 blocked with sand from the double storms and their bottom finder measured 4 feet at the deepest. When I went thru it 2 weeks ago before the storms we were puffing up sand at low tide. About 4 years ago they closed this inlet for a few days due to sand incursion and dive boats drove down to WPB to get out.

The army has a dredging award ready to start in December, But I don't think the inlet can wait that long. Hoping they can move it up sooner. Tagging @Divin'Papaw & @CosbySweater from this thread.

Wow!

My next planned trip over to dive was going to be 10/11-12. I've delayed it 2 weeks to 10/25-26. The weather and ocean conditions are just supercharged and highly unstable right now. With that said, I am currently booked both days with JDC. The state of the inlet concerns me. I'll certain be monitoring! Thanks for the heads-up.

A similar thing happened in March of this past year. Around the Spring equinox. The combination of stronger tides and weeks of north/northeast wind created a big shoal on the North side of the inlet. It blocked about 1/3 of it. I paddled out to it several times. Kind of fun to be in the middle on the inlet on dry ground. This seems to be worse than that event, though.

Boca Inlet yesterday......

PS...Sandbars can be "self-flushing" too and move day by day.
