Yep, and a phone call from someone claiming to be a sheriff's deputy "warning" me that I skipped out on jury duty and will be arrested if I don't pay him $500. Also msgs that I am being sued by the IRS, have defaulted on payments to Amazon and my ISP, that my social security number is being used in nefarious ways and will be "canceled", that I have unpaid tollroad charges, and that I made some sort of purchase for several hundred dollars with PayPal. All solvable by either paying up or giving up all my personal information to some website.

Nice try, but no.
Got one phone call few years back asking me for money $$$ or they will kill my Mom. The phone was registered to a State Prison, and my Mom passed away several years before this call.

You should not reply to those random tests. You are giving them "proof of life" and they will just keep messaging you and selling your info to others. They are all from hacked/stolen numbers. Just block them.

Blocking a number doesn’t do much. I rarely if ever get two junk calls from the same number.

Right. They spoof random numbers for caller ID that don't even work. I've had the same landline number for 45 years but had to disconnect it because of the dozen spam calls a day. Now if my cell phone doesn't work or goes missing, I have to drive somewhere to call for help.

I saw the replies to you on Raul's Bottom Time Divers page and went to the poster's FB page. It was very basic with no friends and no personal reply posts to her posts. Very thin page. Fishy. I blocked the account.

Blocking a FB account is different from blocking a phone number. For phone numbers I don’t bother blocking them; I just don’t answer a call unless it is from a contact or a number I recognize. I don’t really do FB, so it rarely comes up. I occasionally get emails “from” people I know from FB but they are easy to spot as hacks; they always claim to have photos but no text that “sounds” like them.

I ignore any requests in comments to message or friend.

I simply do not respond to any messages on my phone. I don't want to confirm it's a working number.

And after you saved my ass on the Fling years ago! lol

I got a fake message yesterday asking my availability for dinner, i was like hell yeah - italian or mexican??? :rofl3:
