I've laid out the reasons it's better. I've also laid out the reasons it's not necessary or realistic in all circumstances. Have you been to 50m on air? Have you dove with me to 60m? You don't know how anyone other than yourself reacts to narcossis. I can think clearly and make appropriate decisions while affected by it. Clearly you're narc'd at 30m and that's OK. I'm glad you found the solution for sub 30m dives that works for you. I can't afford $200 dives every week, though I will gladly suck down tri if you're going to pay for it though. It really is better, but again not realistic in my universe.
OK so just to clarify you would prefer trimix because it allows you to think more clearly ?not withstanding makes the WOB better ? so you are acknowledging impairment? have you ever been in a high stress situation at depth on air?

and yes ive been much deeper than 50m on air, around 75m (thats about 1.8 ppo2) however I dont recall much of it-although I do recall my face was tingling, probably one of the more stupid dives ive done

How many 50m trimix dives do you have?
None, breathed it at 40m. It's grand but I'm poor.
Then you don't need to dive to 60m every week... Chasing depth isn't the answer, especially since you've said before that you're pushing deeper just to push deeper. There is a remarkable amount to see shallow, and I bet you'll remember the dives better, too.
I do the dives that have the things I want to see. 50-60m are the depth that have things that interest me. Around here the shallows are often sub 5' vis due to bloom so I go to deep structures and enjoy life. I remember my dives well because I do this type of dive often.

Good for you. I'm glad you at least have experience with it

You post seems to have gone off topic. I've been diving over 39 years. I do deep dives to 50m on air.
I don't have issues being able to maintain situational awareness on deep dives. Are you not comfortable as you suffer from narcosis or is it you just not comfortable with the thought of diving on air on deep dives?

I am not Trimix certified.

I've never wanted to go CCR as simply I do not do enough divinng or have dive buddies who do CCR. It's really a niche part of the diving community. For me Helium Trimix is not worth it.

How many dives would you be doing deeper than 40m 50m 60m?
I ve been on ~48-49 on air swimming along wreck with deco on air and can remember everything but I ve been narced on ~44-45 on lean nitrox... I do like the feeling (it was euphoria and very nice conversation with fish) but it requires my buddy to slap me to return to reality... So I can not make any conclusion about my tolerance to narcosis.. I do like dive wrecks, not for penetrate them but for picturing (amateur photogrammetry) - and it usually requires quite intensive swimming outside the wreck... So I would say next portion of wreck of my interest lies on area 50-60 m.. I do not think I ll do more than 20-25 dives deeper 50 m per year though... So, 25-30 dives is break even point between CCR and helium price, but CCR path longer than helium say about 1 year... I am living in South East Asia now but not sure will be here within next 2 years, so might just have not enough time for CCR. And can not trust myself on air :))

Math not your strong suit? 50m is about 165. I'm in that range to about 170 often. Most of what I want to see is between 150 and 170. Occasionally I'll go a bit deeper just because.

The 210ish is just up go near the 1.6 ppo2. A check in the block.

Please show some respect for those who came before you and passed away.
Please show some respect for those who came after you and have learned enough to not do stupid ship like deep air so that they increase their chances of not passing away.

Show respect to those who choose to dive differently than you.

The fact that they overcame all the incidents and reached the surface clearly indicates to me that they were not severely impaired. If they were severely impaired, they would have never left the inside of the sub.
So they were completely fine and abandoned their stages because they felt like it?
Just because some of you forever tadpoles get narked out in a bathtub does not mean that everyone is the same as you.
Two can play this stupid game: Just because you old man get wrecked after one bottle of wine doesn't mean everyone is like you.
Please show some respect for those who came before you and passed away.
"Respect" entails questioning how and why they died so deaths like this can be prevented.

If the day comes when I feel I can’t handle myself underwater I’ll give up diving, That hasn’t happened since I was 16 right up to yesterday when I had to shift very heavy chain in 12 inches of vis. There’s been times when I’ve done some very risky dives but the reward was worth it for me, maybe not for others. My advice to people who think they may not handle the so called “stressful situation” is to get another job or hobby and stop worrying about what others can handle. You don’t have to do it. Relax.
