Doesn’t the large one become a sail with strong currents? I see people using small ones when current is strong and large ones when swell is there. One is a ten foot which I bring when diving extreme fast currents such as in Indonesia.

So Sir, you deploy a 10 foot dsmb near the surface? How near the surface do you inflate it?In some places in Indonesia where I dive the swell can be 2 - 3 meters with fast currents. Sometimes you can end up quite a distance from the boat. Belongas Bay in South Lombok has crazy currents with normal large swells. Thing is you deploy it at near surface not at depth. It takes some practice due to its size and lift capability. Can be used as a lift bag as well. It's about being able to be seen so a boat can get to you.
So no it's not a sail at the surface.
