Thank you so much! I really appreciate your help. And also, do you have issues with the vertical position underwater? To be in front of a vertical shelf, for example. Maybe we are going to drill and now I'm thinking about that.

Another question for Sasha, do you dive with a trilaminate suit and your Santi BZ400? can you wash it? I read that you have to replace it in 2 or 3 years because of the Thinsulate. Did you try the Halo AR?

Sascha with "c", but its ok ;-).
I have trilaminate, Santi as well, which I use in combination.

Unfortunately i have only drysuit experience in this combination, so no experience with Halo or Weezle or Kwark or ... you name it.

I have not washed it, and I use a base layer to avoid that as much as possible.
Shop and instructionsheet says best is washing by hand "Handwäsche" and less than 40°C.

I personally would stretch the washing interval as long as possible. Every undergarnment will loose isolation properties over time and probably a bit more if washed.(especiall improperly). So it has a limited lifetime.
I would also use a special soap for this material, which I would have to look up.

I bought the XDeep backplate for bulk cheese grating. Very disappointed, 1/5 stars. It doesn't even fit in the kitchen utensil drawer. [/s]

I bought the deluxe harness with my Zen and put about 20 dives on it. I am now in the process of converting to a DIR harness since, as others have mentioned, the buckles do make streamlining gear a bit more challenging.

If you are going to be diving in different conditions with various exposure protection which require alot of adjustment, then a deluxe may still serve it's purpose for your use case. You can still adjust a DIR harness, it just takes a bit more work.

Finally, its about US$80-100 to buy a new DIR harness from XDeep so it's not prohibitively expensive to swap out if you buy a deluxe and find that you don't like it.

FYI...as stated the XDeep plates [at least my SS 7lb NX plate] have all cutouts edges CNC beveled and are very smooth...can't "grate' anything.....

zen with S/BW owner 0 dives on it. will soon (in a week)i keep hearing people saying that delux fine but u will end up going back to standard setup after many dives so i end up buying standard setup after doing some research.

I have the standard and I was really surprised that it's actually easier to get on than my old BCD which had pinch clips. It depends on your mobility but for me the pinch clips are simply another failure point and if one of them breaks you have to buy a whole new harness. A lot of people complain about the xdeep weight pockets but I have had no problems with them although I anticipate that due to their none rigid nature and the little loop on them they would take fractionally longer to remove in an emergency should that be required.

Yup, I had to chuckle when demoing to my far-more-experienced-but-oldschool-BCD-sporting dive instructor just how easy it is to get in/out of my fixed DIR / Hogarthian harness. No clips, buckles, padding, ditchable weights or other fluff required when you have a proper balanced rig.

Good review...what are you referring to when saying: "the little loop"?

Thanks

I think I comprehend the BP/W balanced rig concept but you do not have any weights that can be ditched in an emergency? Not being critical but trying to understand.
