One of the old time requirements for a tech regulator was that the cover could be removed to clear a free flow or debris or a stuck lever. The G250 and G260 can be taken apart by removing the cover, the only extra part is a slip ring. The G260 standard cover captures the slip ring so it requires no tool and there are no loose parts other than the cover and the diaphragm.
 
true true, I think when I started buying mk10s I read that (by you and others on the board); I’ll only turn a 10 to a plus at end of life, when the piston gets soo short that even the tallest seat isn’t enough for good IP spec
I’ve been working on MK10s for more than 20 years and I never ever seen a piston ‘get too short’ and I have never been unable to get the IP within spec, using one of the three seats. Usually the problem is IP is too low, and as such I use the short seats (+) 90% of the time. I’m pretty sure I’ve never encountered one that had high IP after rebuilding, which is presumably what would happen if the piston had somehow gotten shorter.

The MK10+ was produced to raise flow rates on the MK10, which it did, but since the regular MK10 flows plenty of gas for pretty much any diving humans will do on OC, to me there’s not real-world improvement in performance, and a significant cost increase in service, as well as less stability in lock up.

I got 2 of these already, 147~150PSI (crisp) with the tallest seats when I did the restoration — they had really deep scars at the knife edge when I got them (for the Rsingler class); a few years and they will tap out for sure
(Ok, there’s the possibility my 1st try at knife edge restoration I was a bit heavy on the micromeshing and I over did it.. 🤷🏽‍♀️)

IP is too low,
Spring fatigue I assume — seems I got good springs and bad pistons; and you the opposite 😅

Dayum! D6 regs don't take near that long to rebuild!!! ;D ;D ;D

There's little difference between modern day regs, in my opinion. D6 are more economical, incredibly easy to rebuild, and the second stage needs no tools to take the purge cover off. I've gotten stuff stuck in my exhaust valves when I surfaced in duck weed, and that makes it easy.
