The SOFIRN SD08 is operated by rotary ring switch, with a side light ring indicating the power level. The power level stays on all the time, useful for cave divers to know the remaining power without having to turn it off and on. The indicating LED is poweful but does not disturb night vision.

The rotary ring switch has 5 positions: RGB-OFF-low-medium-high.

It has been designed so that by toggling left, or turning right to choose the output mode.

The declared Max Output is 3200 lumens (rotating to the end of ring), and max output will continue 2 minutes, then stepdown reduces the brightness to 1800 lumens with 75 minutes.

It also include ATR Advanced Thermal Regulation, that kicks in at 60°C and reduces the output to cool the light.

Will you be making a version without the RGB? RGB is not something 99% of divers would use.

What are the units on the runtime diamgrams.
X AXIS in second
Y AXIS in Lux for the spot in 1m distance?

The Sofrin SD-05 is very similar without the RGB silliness. It does use a XHP50 emitter so will not be quite as bright. I have used SD-05 for a couple of years and 100+ dives with good success. It would be great for there to be some collaboration between sofrin and the scubaboard community it terms of what features divers want. Sofrin makes high quality products, but there are often these silly features to detract for their utility.

I have a Sofrin SD-05 it's a great torch, the only downide is the tail cap, the hole to tie it to bolt snaps it only about 3mm which makes it a bit small. I also have a Sofirn SD01 Pro which I got back in 2021, and a Sofirn SD02B, all have been well used and abused and are still going strong. Sofrin are a reputable brand within the flashlight world, it would be great to see some sollaboration between sofrin and the scubaboard community, they have done something similar with budgetlightforum.com with the Sofirn BLF LT1.

I changed the LED in the SD05 and got a ~5 degree Spot with a bit of spill and roughly 60000 lux @1m distance. As soon as I get the test sample of the SD08 I could show a comparison.

I have 3 sd-05. They fixed the small hole thing and they are grat lights.

I have one of the SD-05, one of the Wurkkos DL30, and just added a Wurkkos DL08 which I thought I'd try as a focus light since it has a red LED for night dives.
