Ok, so buying hoses that say "Made in USA" and also have "EN250" marked on the same hose are junk? Because I have several that have both on the same hose.
So we can't go by "made in USA" anymore I take it?
I'm just trying to understand what needs to be marked on the hose so I know it's not junk.
I looked at all my hoses, and none of them have SAE100R3 on them.
If I call somewhere and ask if their LP and HP hoses are up to SAE100R3 standards are they going to know what I'm talking about?

...and please stop with the long talk and the irrelevant list of credentials, I'm sure you're very qualified and know a lot about the industry inside and out. That's great but I don't care, I just want to know about hoses and what I need to look for that's STAMPED ON THE HOSE.

I am not the cause of this. I'm just outlining that by going down this route and accepting Brands and catalogue information for your purchase choice and decision all your left with is ignorance and by allowing this reduction in quality the standard for the scuba equipment you buy is reduced and does not benefit the diver in any way shape or form.

While at the same time a further lack of spare parts and the excessive cost again driven by profit sales and marketing is degrading your ability to make an informed choice.

While the additional increase in profit importing offers to the importer distributor some of this can now be shared by the importers distributor and retail shops alike. All to the unsuspecting recreational diver.
You pay more, and get less are now are being required to replace more often.

Once upon a time A Made in USA High quality Divers LP hose with at least a ten year life cost $20
Now these rinky dink EN250 hoses have taken over with a $30 cost but the kicker is with a replacement required every 2 years and you're now $150 in. Do your own maths.

With the added bonus that no one knows anymore the quality or manufacture and the European EN250 is a standard for Europe not for you guys. Made in the USA was an alternative and your last chance maybe you left it too late.

When did this happen? I replaced one, maybe two, HP hoses in the past ten years, and I run a dive school with many regulator sets. If there are any issues, it is the gauge swivel ring, and then that is infrequent if you rinse your equipment properly.

DGX sells cheap hoses and their recommendation is to replace hoses every 5 years. That's even a profit driven stretch in my opinion.

It really didn't happen. The hype about poor quality is nothing more than fear mongering. As I pointed out previously, it's like the "You're gonna die" mantra about split fins. Totally uncalled for.

This banter is useless, you have been asked several times to identify how we can change our purchase habits to get better hoses. Yet, we get more about substandard standards and nothing on how to tell the "great" hoses from the "garbage" hoses as you indicate. I have looked online and cannot find the "great" hoses anywhere. I have experienced garbage HP hoses with 6" hoses.

Please provide sources for the great hoses or stop with the banter!

On a dive last week at God's Pocket, up in British Columbia, a tech diver buddy had an HP hose failure in the middle of the week. She is a GUE tech diver using doubles and super experienced. Toward the end of the dive, I saw her at safety stop depth and noticed a steady stream of small bubbles. I came in closer and pointed out the issue. There was no drama, but it made for a good photo opportunity. I ended up loaning her the HP hose off my spare reg-set for the rest of the trip. It always pays to have spares available, for you or a buddy. She had a spare as well, but it was shorter than she liked.

This was a rubber hose and on the prior dive there were no bubbles at all.
