Eric Its already done but I'm glad you mentioned it if nothing else to kill any idea of someone patenting someone else's original idea.

It was called a SRD Self Rescue Device originally designed by us lot for the military in training on the LAR VIII oxygen rebreathers etc together with a CO2 detector. Breathing rate and RTS computer would ascend a diver on a controlled assent to the surface (or at least help in body recovery). You could also control the assent of all the numpty divers on a timer that would have them all pop up at the same time regardless of those swimming off in the wrong direction to ensure swift recovery rather than letting the supervisors tea go cold waiting for them. Discussed with photos in RBW some years ago

You cannot patent prior art, if something already exists someone else cannot patent it.

I wonder why Aqualung decided to announce Aquasense at the CES rather than at DEMA. They weren't ready less than 2 months ago? They thought it would be a better audience at an electronics show than at a scuba show?

Perhaps the DEMA crowd expects to physically be able to put their hands on new gear, and place orders. Maybe CES is more accepting of announcements regarding soon-to-be-release tech? Or perhaps they didn't want the type of questions they'd get at DEMA vs. CES?

If I remember correctly, the Tern and Tern TX were announced at the 2023 DEMA in November and were not launched until January.

I'm just trying to understand Aqualung's strategy of announcing at CES, at least 7 months before launch. assuming it it ready when they say.
