My (adult) daughter and I will be in Oahu for a week in mid/late August. We'll probably only have one, at most 2 days available to dive (we'll have a rental car, so willing to drive). What are some can't-miss dives that we should try to hit, and any recommendation for dive shops? (Night dive suggestions are welcome too.) Thanks!

Thanks. Are the lava tube dives good mainly for the topology, or are there interesting critters/wildlife to see too? I see they offer a wreck + lava tube 2-tank option which looks attractive...

I hope @mountainsean got what he was looking for on Oahu!

@mauimel On Oahu, besides the Sea Tiger as Capt Jim Wyatt pointed out, there's the Mahi shipwreck located west of the island. It's a very interesting wreck resting at about 90 feet and main deck about 65 feet deep. There is nothing else surrounding the wreck but sand so the wreck itself attracts all sorts of life.

My favorite dives on Oahu are the shore dives on the North Shore mainly Sharks Cove, Three Tables, and Waimea Bay. Conditions beginning around June through mid-September are very calm and the most ideal for shore diving. Night diving during those months is FABULOUS! Come time for night dive the day crowds have left leaving plenty of parking.

You can get more info about shore diving on Oahu via the internet or reading The Oahu Snorkelers and Shore Divers Guide by Francisco B. de Carvalho. You can find the book on Amazon or maybe the local library.
