The 3mm Henderson Hyperstretch wetsuit I had, new in 2008, suffered its last few years with me as pads were coming loose around the edges and some of the stitching was fraying in different places. In 2023, I swapped it for a hat at the dive shop I used in Grand Bahama. This past year, in my only diving, I used my shorty.

What I'm seeking is any first hand information from others with my height/weight range on a suit that works for them whether it's a brand name or something they got from Amazon.

Here are my particulars:
6'4"
230 lbs
38" waist
I'm a warm water diver who dives when I vacation
Most likely no more than10-20 dives a year (although I am going to MX 3 times early next year)
Not looking to break the bank - so a $75 suit from Amazon is okay if it works

Have checked out a few at my LDS and Scuba.com and tried one on, but still interested in what others have to say.

It's the opposite of a $75 amazon special, but BARE does extended sizing including Tall. (Looks like you'd be in an XLTALL for them, specificlaly....)

I've been very happy with my 3mm Reactive (couldn't go with the cheaper lines since they don't make those in Husky for some reason...). Noticeably warmer than my prior 3mm Henderson.

@jonhall
I'm 6-2, 235, 38" waist.
I have two 3mm's, both fit me like a glove.
Henderson TherMAXX 3mm XXL - extra stretchy, questionable seam quality, had to mail it to them for warranty repair. Their warranty is pretty decent.
Another one is a tad too long for me (like an inch or two), would be a great fit for you is Probe Mens iDRY QUICK DRY SEMIDRY 3mm XXL
Both are not $75 suits though...

If you are only going in warm water and thermal protection is a minor consideration, then get any old cheap suit that is MORE than big enough.

A larger suit will be easier to put on, will probably be more comfortable and might even last longer if you are not stretching the crap out of it when putting it on and off. Having the sleeves or ankles a tiny bit long is a complete non-issue. If the water turns cooler, bring a 2-3 mm hood with a decent bib and this will more than make up for a slightly baggy suit, with regard to warmth.

I am exactly your body configuration, 6’4” 230 lbs. 38 waist.
Try a Pinnacle brand rear zip one piece. Get the 3XL.
I tried the 2XL and it was way too tight, so I traded it for the 3XL and it’s perfect. Pinnacle tends to be taller and slimmer than other off the rack suits I’ve tried. The length has always been an issue with OTR, but not with Pinnacle, it’s actually a bit too long which is fantastic! No cold legs as the suit doesn’t pull up.

:yeahbaby:

Four or five of us in this tread we have wetsuits that cost way more than $75... In part because asian sizing (read - cheap wetsuits) does not fit our bodies. In part because quality and fit matters...
