Went out Saturday off the beach in Ft Lauderdale to catch dinner. 84 minutes on the trigger, covered over 2 miles, and came home with 70% life left in my battery, and my limit on lobsters.

Great thing about the scooter is you can get to places that swimming beach divers really cant effectively get to and boats dont seem to visit.

Love that Suex!

What type scotter do you have? And what batteries do you use with it? Thanks in advance.
Suex XJ-S its about 2 years old now. Suex uses their own proprietary battery pack.

Its my second Suex. Both have been rock solid units.

Did I buy a T16 from you years ago? Can’t remember, anyway, I love suex, have a XK now, mostly for cave though.

And seeing this reminds me I need to start my project, which is to convert a display/plastic AL80 into a lobster “bag” rigged as a stage bottle. When scootering with a regular bag, after you put 2-3 lobsters in it, it creates a lot of drag when on the trigger, I’m hoping a “bag” like a stage would work great, I just haven’t figured out a good opening to put the lobsters through.

Not me, but I probably knew the person you did.

Problem wearing a bag like a stage, that I see, would be the lobsters spines would be poking you under your arms, rib cage and possibly even puncturing your wing.

I put a brass grommet in the bottom corner of my lobster bag and put a double ender on it so I will carry it from the bottom. This way, in theory, when I'm scootering the water wont be going in the top of the bag and adding drag, any water going in the mesh will go right out of the bag. I've yet to test my "new" design. I'll let you all know.

I’m calling it a bag, but it’s an AL80 cylinder, except it’s made of plastic, only for display purposes so shops can mount BCDs to it and such, it’s same size and shape of an AL80, nothing is gonna poke through it, I could put lion fish in it.

One idea I have is to plug the neck, where a valve would be screwed into, and do the lobster inserting hole on the bottom/“square” end, so that when carried on trigger it’d be more hydrodynamic with the coned/“valve” side forward and avoid water entering creating drag as you mentioned.

I have 2 of them, but don’t want to start cutting until I have a solid idea in place.

Cool idea. But aint no way you will fit 6 healthy lobsters in a plastic Alum 80. And you would be totally hosed if you came across this guy I did. Found him off Osborne Reef years ago. The bag in the picture in my first post, you would have maybe fit 3 of them in that vessel.

Yeah, this is something I’m considering too, not the abnormal size lobster, that’s a one in a decade or more occurrence, can’t account for that, my snare doesn’t have a loop big enough for it, yet I won’t carry a giant snare for the odd chance of finding a giant lobster.

I’ve been comparing sizes with lion fish keepers that people use for lobsters too, they’re smaller and yet still fits a daily limit, but a big part of my hesitation to start chopping my fake cilynder is that I want to find a good solution to the lobster hole which won’t affect the size of the cylinder reducing its capacity, so it’s definitely something I have to consider

Dont cut the plastic tanks. Find a piece of 7" diameter PVC pipe in the length of an 80 and fabricate a top and bottom. Pool and plumbing companies may have some scrap pieces that you could mess with. I think duct pipe would be perfect, its thin. But any 7-8" pvc pipe is expensive.

We use our Zookeepers, but they have their own level of drag. Maybe a zookeeper with a modified opening so that it has less drag.
