What is the best next step for a relatively new PADI AOW diver looking to improve risk awareness, risk mitigation, competency, and proficiency? Almost entirely warm-water recreational diving.

I have found GUE training more challenging to find (but doable in the US). PADI Rescue Diver is much easier to find and schedule.

Thanks!

Nitrox. Rescue will always be interesting. And then it depends : intro to tech, cavern, Advance nitrox will be interesting. And of course many dives.

By the way, how regularly do you dive?
Starting in Jan, several times per month. Warm-water, recreational, single-tank. No tech. No cold-water. Mostly with a local shop/DM/guide. Occasionally independently with a few other divers.

Are you in the 15/20 dives/year range, or in the 30/40, or more?

Fundies is quite a commitment, it could be too much of an effort if you don't dive enough or don't plan to

If you go quite sometimes independently it might be nice to do it with your buddies

I started not long ago but being retired I have time to dive : I made almost 400 dives in a bit more than 2 years so I can say I dive quite regularly

It was for the OP, sorry for the misunderstanding! But almost 200 dives a year is impressive, I sincerely envy you
