Hi, everyone. This is my first post. I just got my PADI OW card. Now I am looking for my first BCD. My LDS offer me a new Balance BC for $360. Another shop offer me SP Knighthawk $400. My friends recommend me to get a Ranger and I found one from E-bay $360 buy-now.

I like all of them since they all look good. The ranger seems more heavy duty and Balance is more light weight. Knighthawk is between. I have a 7mm wetsuit and will have an HP 100 (or E8-119) steel tank. I want to do some deep dive and drysuit dive in future. Please let me know your opinion about them. Thank you!

I have been diving the Zeagle for the past 8 years and love it. I have dove with 2 Rangers and I am now currently diving a NiteRunner model never had a problem with any of them. But I know a few people who don't like them mainly due to the weights and how they are ditched. But I love it and will not trade it in for anything not even for a Knighthawk like my instuctor keeps trying to get me to do.

I love my Ranger and $360 is a great price for a like new LTD version.
They're tough. I love the weight system, you can use hard or soft weights in the pouches and the LTD has the rear trim pouches.

Why spend $360 on a like new Ranger when you can spend another $40 and get a new Zeagle Brigade from Scubatoys (made just for them)? Most people will tell you that you don't need the 45lbs of lift on the Ranger nor the padding. It also packs really big because of the bladder. If you like the Ranger and don't need the lift, look at the Brigade it is the Ranger with a smaller bladder.

You should find a dive op that will let you rent one of each and try them all before deciding (personal preference), but my preference in that list would be the Ranger.

I have dove with the Ranger for years and highly recomend it. My two sons dive with Rangers. I do dive with a Dive Rite Trans pack with Rec Wings, but for just starting out and with out knowing a lot about the Balance or the Knighthawk, I would recomend the Ranger.

Having dove all three and owned a Zeagle, Id go w/ the KnightHawk. ALot more streamlined than the others, able to take off only one set of weights at a time, also comes w/ trim weight pckets, very nice for a regular BC.

i,d buy the ranger, since it,s the most rugged and versatile plus the best gurantee in the industry for bcd,s

For me, iv only dove the Ranger on you list. It is also the first rear blader, weight int. i have owned. I love it. I know this, i will not go back to a jacket. Im with VIPER75, find a shop and try'em all out.
