for what it's worth, one of my buddies just went from a ranger to a pioneer because he felt the ranger trapped some air and the pioneer is less bulky. he's happy with his choice.

I use a Halcyon rig. I also just purchased an al b/p for travel and warm water diving. One friend had a brand new zeagle ranger and sold it in favor of a b/p set up. Another friend who had a ranger removed the wing and attached it to a ss b/p setup. Figure it out...
I had also considered a zeagle ranger but the b/p came out on top. The b/p made more sense for me and give more freedom of movement and config options. I 've dove the zeagle and find them quite comfortable but ever since i put on a b/p, its unlikely that I will wear something that clutters my front area.
By the way, if go the b/p route, get either a ss or alum. abs ones are only about 3oz lighter than al - for a couple more bucks, I'd get the al.

I owned a Zeagle Tech one summer and had 3 major problems with it. I know some folks that like the Halcyon but I've never used it. The 3 problems I had were
1: one of the back tank straps freaking just broke!
2: The damn inflator/deflator hose just popped off during one dive
3: after getting the hose repaired they never could get it to stop leaking from around the main seal and threads.
4: I did get my money back
5: Went to a Genesis Talon
6: Hated it too
7: Genesis Recon now....Good BC
