I recently bought a used Zeagle Ranger in Medium size. I am 5'8" @ 172# with a 34" waist, and the Zeagle size tables say that the Medium should fit me.

When I put it on, the cumberbund sits about two to three inches higher than the cumberbund on my TUSA Evolution Cubic jacket BCD. It seems high.

Is this just a basic design difference between back inflate and jacket BC's? I have lengthened the shoulder straps all of the way out. I don't see any other adjustment that would drop with waist band any. I haven't had a chance to dive in the Ranger yet to see how if feels in the water.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Look on (inside) back (at the top) under flap there may be height adjustment there.

I am talking off the top of my head (I'm at work) but seems that is where mine is. I have an OLDER Ranger with Velcro weight iontegrated pockets.

Those straps are the ones I am referring to. Already lengthened to their max. Thanks

If you can't find another way to lengthen it, one option is to buy a size large shoulder section for it. It swaps out at the buckles on the front and seam across the back. My dad did this with his size medium, but he is a little taller and larger than you.

The shop where you bought the BC should be able to order it for you.

Shoulder straps and the adjustment at the top are both all the way out and it still doesn't fit?..WOW!!

Above is the diagram that I refered to when I first got my bc. I thought that it was way up but it rests on my hips a bit so I know it can't go lower.
If I am thinking right when I use the cumberbun it is just a bit above my belly button. If you don't like using the cumberbun just fold it inside. There are two elstic bands which I use to hold it in place.

95VROOM,

People do have different torso measurements. I'm 6'1" and 185# & 33" waist, yet the waist band on my medium Zeagle BCs are nice and low.

Check the separate size tag on the shoulder section. Often mediums are ordered with a small shoulder for shorter torso people.

Thanks for the responses. I will check all of the tags this weekend and also put the BC to where the cumberbund rests relative to my belly button and waist. The fit problem is in the relative height of the BC above my waist, not a problem with the should straps fitting. The straps are long enough.

I think my problem was the dreaded stupid owner error. I was cinching up the shoulder straps very tight, just the way I do on my backpack to keep the load stable when we go camping. This was pulling the cumberbund up. If I don't cinch the straps up that tight the cumberbund is at waist level where it should be. I may consider getting a sternum strap to hold the shoulder straps together since this does feel kind of loose and I haven't had it on with a tank yet. This is a 1996 model Ranger with no sternum strap. Thanks

I think that's a common error among folks...tightening up the shoulder straps too early. I have a Zeagle Zena (not quite a Ranger <LOL>), but it is extremely important to pull the body of the BC down and adjust it from the bottom up, not the top down. Shoulder straps are always last for the perfect fit.
