Hope this isn't too obvious but -

Are you gender non specific people ( )wearing the waist strap in the right position? It should be basically riding on your hips like a backpack strap would. If the cumberbund has the ability to obstruct your breathing then you are wearing it too high.

I give my Ranger waist strap a good tightening before I dump off the boat but I don't worry too much about it because I know I'll need to tighten it again once my wetsuit compresses. I make sure the cumberbund is snug but I don't make it too tight. Once I've dcecended to around 20 feet I make sure the BC is riding low and give the strap a good tug to really secure it - from there I don't have to think about it again, it's a wonderful fit. I sometimes notice that I want to give it another tug around 100' but not a big deal if I don't. It's very nice coming up, the wetsuit expands and the BC stays exactly where I want it.

I just made two dives with the latest Ranger, on twin 100HPs. No crotch strap, no beer belly, no problems, on either dive.

Interesting note:

One dive was with a nyon exterior wetsuit, a Henderson Gold seal 3mm jumpsuit. The BC was secure, but if I worked at it really hard, I could make it slip slightly, maybe an inch, on my back.

The other dive was with a new Henderson Insta Dry 3mm jumpsuit, with no nylon exterior coating. The Ranger BC felt like it was welded onto my back!

just throw the beer bellly over the cumberbund and youll wont worry about it rising up...,,lucky for woman they have..........

I agree that the Ranger is a very comfortable BC on the surface and underwater.

Not to get too personal CUunderH2O... but

1. How tight do you make your cummerbund?
2. How big is your beer belly?

I think the "riding up" has a lot to do with the Velcro cummerbund and associated clip. If you make the cummerbund a little tighter around your waist and/or have a good sized beer belly, the Ranger is less likely to ride up.

I have a relatively small beer belly and like my cummerbund a little looser. I think this combination makes the Ranger ride up on me.
