I own a 12-15 year old Zeagle BC. The zipper broke on one of the utility pockets and the exhaust valve attached to the bladder doesn't seem to work properly. My problem is that Zeagle won't replace or fix the BC under warrenty unless I can produce a receipt. After 12+ years of owning the BC, the reciept is long gone. Furthermore, the scuba store where it was purchased has since gone out of business. Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks

Neil

Can't really blame Zeagle for wanting proof of purchase, especially since their BCs have long lives and old ones are often sold on e-bay. I'd bet sending it to Zeagle for repair will be cheaper than buying a new one. Plus it'll be like new when you get it back and you'll easily get another 12-15 years out of it. :)

I'm new here so maybe I'm out of line,,, but,,, if I had a car 12-15 years old and had a problem with it I would promptly trade it in on a new/er one.
If I had a 12 year old golf bag with a broken zipper I think I would go buy a new one.

Since your life may depend on this peace of equipment, especially with the exhaust valve problem.

Maybe it's time for an upgrade?

Just saying.:cool2:

yeah, I can't really offer you anything constructive. But I honestly can't imagine that a non-warranty repair for a zipper and valve is going to cost you that much. If it needed a new bladder, maybe...

Post this in the Zeagle forum in the Manufacturer's area. Perhaps Scott can shed some light on this for you...?

In most cases replacing a zipper is not that big of a deal. Probably for the cost of shipping it both ways you can take it down to a luggage repair outfit and they can put a new zipper on it for you. Otherwise find somewhere that does industrial sewing sometimes shoe repair shops.

I do not blame any mfg that requires proof of purchase any more. With the way things get sold left and right it is not surprising. I have had good luck with Zeagle taking care of me but then again I paid them to make some changes to a couple of BCDs and wings.

Hi Neil!!

The fact that you bothered to post here makes me think that you are probably the original owner...otherwise you wouldn't have bothered.

I will get ahold of you through PM and see if we can't get you taken care of...

Thanks,

Scott

Hey Neil what ever ends up happening I hope you will let us know if they took care of it. I am very new into the Zeagle brand but from what I have seen in the new version of the ranger ltd I am trully amazed. They have made a BCD that is almost (yes I know it still needs to be inspected) completely user friendly and requires very little shop time.

Anyway I am just interested to know if Zeagle took care of you as this will be an important step in helping others decide to go with or away from Zeagle
